Ryan T. Montgomery is a native of Canton, Ohio and in his 14th year as a High School Football Coach, 9 years in the State of Ohio and 5th in the State of Kentucky. Prior to Coaching he was a 3-year letterman and starter at Canton McKinley High School, Canton, Ohio earning accolades of 1998 Ohio High School Division 1 State Title team member, All-Northeast Inland District Team member, All-County Team member, Warren G Harding Gridiron award recipient, and other honors in the sport of baseball. After his prep years, he was awarded a full-athletic scholarship to attend the Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Kentucky where he was a 4-year letterman and starter in the positions of Wide Receiver and Return Specialist. Earning accolades of All S.I.A.C. (Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference), Division II All-Midwest Region team member, Division II All-American honors and voted team captain as a Junior and Senior. His passion is to empower people, especially young people, to maintain control of their lives and to determine their destinies. One of his favorite teaching points is: “Being different is the tool that will help you be successful. Everyone can follow footsteps, but only a few will choose to make their own prints.”

Ryan’s current career began at the completion of his Bachelor’s Degree from Kentucky State University. There he majored in Computer Science and minored in Mathematics. He has worked in the non-profit sector with the YMCA as a youth Program Director designing and implementing programs for middle school-age youth, Future Promise, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Teen Standing Tall, More Than My Brothers Keeper and Building Lives Through Sports, Inc. as a youth advocate and educational trainer.

Bringing everything that he has learned and experienced together, Ryan assisted in the design and implementation of the Bahamas Youth Football Program in Grand Bahama, The Bahamas. Through this program, he helped build a sport centered coalition of support that included education, social services, health/medical, businesses, government and other stakeholders that yielded positive outcomes for youth utilizing sport as a vehicle in their development.

Ryan is also working as a Science Teacher for Shelby County Public School District, where he plans to help students in the City of Shelbyville become more aware of the new ages and ways of Science.

Ryan has 2 daughters, Riyanna S. Benham (age 16) and Kayla A. Jennings (age 7).
Current Whereabouts:
God, family, sports, reading, exercising, meditating.

- Communicate student performance regularly with students, parents, and school staff. - Provide motivation and encouragement to all students. Help students to problem solve, set goals, plan and pace their learning. - Guide students through their APEX courses, which includes teaching, providing feedback on labs and activities, and unlocking quizzes and tests.
