Posted By: Jehan Bunch on November 13, 2008 POSITION SPECIFICATION COMPANY: Major Steel Manufacturer and Producer POSITION TITLE: Finance and Accounting (Full-Time) REPORTS TO: Management of Accounting LOCATION: Multiple locations: Jobs available in Pittsburgh, PA corporate office and Domestic manufacturing operations facilities in Gary, IN near Chicago; Detroit, MI; Houston and Tyler Texas; Birmingham, AL; Cleveland OH; Granite City, IL OUR CLIENT: Our client is the #2 integrated steel producer with major production operations in the United States, Canada and Central Europe. Accounting is a core component of our business and key to our success as one of the world’s largest steel producers. The Accounting organization ensures financial compliance, manages global financial results for external reporting, and provides financial statistics to the Corporation’s Executive Team to aid in strategic business decisions. You will enhance your knowledge and understanding of the Accounting field and the relationship between our operations and financial performance. SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will be responsible for assisting and supporting the Accounting Manager and accounting staff in a variety of disciplines. Job responsibilities will vary depending on the student’s interests and placement but will likely include some of the following roles: Job Description, including assignments to Accounting and Finance: • Analyze operating costs and forecast deviations • Develop financial forecasts through the analysis of past and present conditions, including guidance of operating personnel to maximize profitability of operating plans and activity levels • Prepare numerous statistical reports/packages • Complete various assignments, including financial analysis and general accounting/control functions • Investigate operating conditions that impact performance results, and identify possible improvements • Analyze, develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to further strengthen the overall efficiency, control and accuracy of accounting processes • Gain exposure to the overall organization and functions of the Accounting Department • Adhere to GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley Guidelines Through formal and on-the-job training related to individual assignments, Management Associates build business and management skills while they prepare for successful futures. Our Management Associate Program provides relevant work experience while strengthening leadership capabilities for advanced roles within our Corporation. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • Candidates must be available full-time student with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Mathematics, Finance or any financial related field.
