Posted By: Jehan Bunch on November 13, 2008 COMPANY: Major Steel Manufacturer and Producer POSITION TITLE: Accounting (Intern or Co-Op) REPORTS TO: Management of Accounting LOCATION: Multiple locations: Jobs available in Pittsburgh, PA corporate office and Domestic manufacturing operations facilities in Gary, IN near Chicago; Detroit, MI; Houston and Tyler Texas; Birmingham, AL; Cleveland OH; Granite City, IL OUR CLIENT: Our client is the #2 integrated steel producer with major production operations in the United States, Canada and Central Europe. You will apply your knowledge to support Finance and Accounting managers in charge of ensuring financial compliance, managing global financial results for external reporting and providing financial statistics to the Corporation’s Executive Team to aid in important business decisions. SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Finally, a true entry level opportunity with a Fortune 500 corporation that will train recent graduates on the job! This experience will prepare you for a real career in Accounting with an outstanding company. This position will be responsible for assisting and supporting the Plant Manager and staff in a variety of disciplines. Job responsibilities will vary depending on the student’s interests and placement but will likely include one of the following roles: • Complete various assignments within the Accounting and Finance Department, including financial analysis, general accounting/control functions • Observe and study the overall organization and functions of the Accounting Department • Understand and analyze efficiency, control and accuracy of accounting processes • Prepare statistical reports/packages • Understand and adhere to GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley Guidelines • Communicate with managers and staff throughout the facility • Assist with inventory processes • Students must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or any financial related field • Students must have completed or be working towards completion of their sophomore year and be in good academic standing. GPA must be 3.3 or better! • Students must be willing to work one of two schedules: two semesters at 16-20 hours per week followed by one summer of 40 hours per week or one semester of 40 hours per week plus one summer of 40 hours per week. EDUCATION: • Currently enrolled in school pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Mathematics • Proficiency in Microsoft® software Your co-op or intern experience will prepare you for a full-time Management Associate position upon your graduation from college. The Accounting Associate Program provides relevant work experience while strengthening leadership capabilities for advanced roles within our Corporation.
