Tina ,Tina ,Tina..whew ..69 and F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!

Posted By: Marta Fernandez on December 01, 2008 I love how the universe works together. How all of our experiences are for a reason. Due to "life" circumstances, choices, we make -I really did not expect a traditional Thanksgiving. Oh I planned for it..but sort of went with the flow. The adult kids went off with their significant others. So mom and I were left at home. Now that's not a bad thing, due to my love for peace and quiet and reading. I bought my mom her favorite food, (no turkey,) a Cuban dinner and was feeling quite happy when my best bff called and said, " do you want to go to see Tina Turner?" I said are you kidding??? where did you get Tina Turner tickets?? well she works for Prudential and she was offered the tickets through her job. Well, how lucky can I get?? the Prudential Center is 20 minutes from my house, the show began at 7:30 and I had all day to lounge and relax! First we stopped by her co-workers family's home who did serve Thanksgiving dinner, though I skipped the turkey again! We were running late, but when we got to the arena we were right on time...you know who's in charge.. I wanted to go as a tribute to her, because this was to be her last tour. I was never a fan of hers, though no one can deny her beautiful gams..yes, her knees are the same color as her face..LOL!! as a matter of fact in 2004 when I cut off my hair, no let me correct that, when the Dominican stylist cut off all my hair..I bleached it blonde and wore it curly and what did I do that for?? all summer long..all I heard was ..hey Tina Turner..even the Mexican guy in my neighborhood got into the act..and I was not pleased! Well, you can call me Tina all day long. This woman a tribute to the power and force of a true , Goddess in that she withstood, being punched in the face, dragged and kicked, pummeled and belittled by Ike Turner..to rise like a Lotus flower from the muddy waters..is nothing short of the phenom of being a Woman. Like every goddess, she has that radiant beauty of an indomitable spirit. A hardworker, a perfectionist, always learning , continuing her voice lessons, learning proper diction, reaching out with genuine love -grounded in life. What a show! and when she climbed the "cherry picker" and was looming over the audience and turned to walk on the plank ..downward mind you, with high heels..I was flabbergasted..firstly I thought OMG suppose she falls..69-years of age, her birthday was the day before Thanksgiving. So much to glean about life from such a woman. Beauty, grace, strength, self-love, trust and belief in herself, discipline, and the abilty to love others. I am so glad that the European man she is with, has shown her support and love for over 17-years, and in fact he is just about that much younger than she is. You know sisters, and the brothers that may be reading this..a few months ago, someone had blogged on the age difference , if the man is younger, and I was amused by the answers. A sort of narrow minded responses, such as lacks "experience" ..oh,yes? well now so does President-Elect Barack Obama! my answer was, that European men spend their youth pursuing money and not chicks..as well Mr. Obama spent his youth pursuing goals and not women.. get it right ,now. I delight in her happiness. That her man treats her with the dignity, love, respect and tenderness that she deserves and even more so ,that Ike did not douse her flame as much as he tried. Yes I know he was a fine guitarist..and why does that talent have to be off set by punching her while she was pregnant and exhausting her..violent men are such scared little things..very sad, and I do speak from first hand experience. Yes, we are all survivors, and I relish the sisters that were fortunate enough never to know a day of humiliation. Her dancers were fabulous. Beautiful women, reflecting herself. All leggy and curvy and some workin' dancers.. ironically a few months ago I posted a picture of an entertainer named Lisa Fischer. I am a muse of beautiful things and people. There was a back up singer, who tore the house down, and our guest mentioned that name. Sure enough it's the same Lisa. Older even more beautiful . So much for our younger sisters to look forward to. Don't you just love how everything lines up in rhythm? How it all works together for the good? If you keep vigilant, you can see where your are being led though you may not know where you are going? I truly had a wonderful time, I thank my guardian angels. For placing in my path such wonderful friends. For allowing me to find joy in small "insignificant" gestures. For sending and whispering messages of encouragement. So you see family, I do, DO other things besides blog about Obama!!LOL Peace and Joy! huh-? shucks, if tina ain't the epitome of human decency who is at 69? i love you anyway robert bc Lord knows my knees don't look the same way they did when i was 14. let me tell y'all sumtin 'bout mizz tina....what's love got to do with it came out the very summer i had my nervous breakdown and my sister made me go....then we brought the soundtrack.....then i played ' i don't want to hurt anymore' a million times to the point that my family threatened to take me back to the mental house. anyhu---that song was soooo inspirational to allowing me to dream of a life away from my abusive husband and y'all know what they say, IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, YOU CAN ACHIEVE IT......uh-hm, smile. thanks so much marta for sharing and i'm soo jealous and hope to see a live concert b4 the curtains finally close. i have alllll the dvd's and they make for one heck of a work out three times a year--ROFLOL:) Sunday, December 7th 2008 at 11:16AM |

Hurry..this is her last tour..What's good for Beyonce is good for Tina..B..turned out a whole generation..who gyrate like it's a personal act..they both wear their fabu wigs, work hard, have banging bodies and live on the lap of luxury, with husbands who adore them..since when is age a determinant of how long one should be in show business? please get a life..
