Lori Williams (Hampton University, Class of 1988) performs at Metro Stage in Alexandria, VA

Posted By: Lori Williams on December 06, 2008 MetroStage favorite Jimi Ray Malary returns to MetroStage after past hit shows, Ellington: The Life and Music of The Duke and Nat King Cole: King of Cool. This tribute features the songs that epitomize the many stages of romance from three of popular music's most prolific and enduring song writing teams: Jerome Kern, Rodgers and Hart and George and Ira Gershwin. Direct from the Stackner Cabaret at Milwaukee Rep, Mr. Malary will be joined by Lori Williams (another MetroStage favorite featured in All Night Strut in 2005) "...the atmosphere lights up when Williams lets fly with her ringing vocals, and the band is in fine fettle.", Celia Wren, Washington Post "He's joined by jazz vocalist Lori Williams, who appeared here three years ago in the Cotton Club style revue All Night Strut. Here, with so many lyrics deserving crystal clear delivery, she has no lack of enunciatory clarity at all. She joins Malary in reveling in the match of meaning and melody.", Brad Hattoway, Potomac Stages Review "He’s joined by his scintillating, sexy partner, Lori Williams, who shares love songs with Malary and they also sing separately. They are so natural together and elegant---they reminded me of the classy 1940’s and 50’s. And Williams reminds me of Nancy Wilson, 40 years ago.", Rich Massabny - Producer/Interviewer/Reviewer, “Arlington Weekly News TV” - Comcast CHANNEL 69 Location: MetroStage Theatre 1201 North Royal St. Alexandria, VA 22314 Performances: Thursday and Friday at 8:00 PM (No show on Thanksgiving) Saturday at 5:00 PM and 8:30 PM Sunday at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM Playing through December 21, 2008!
