Posted By: MIISRAEL Bride on December 28, 2008 A DRIVE BY THAT SAVED A BOY'S LIFE Written by Miisrael Shields December 28, 2008 Saturday morning, December 27, 2008 may have seemed like any other day for one Memphis citizen, except on her driving outing she decided to take a shortcut through a street she rarely commutes. Looking over on the side walk she spotted a youth and a pit bull dog. At first glance she thought the boy and dog were playing, but then noticing the pit bull was attacking she immediately dailed 911. Assisting the child's mother, who managed to pull her son away quickly, the pit bull then turned on the child's mother biting her as well. When help arrived, they could not assist the victims because the dog guarded the porch of the victims house not allowing the animal professionals or emergency personnel to approach. Memphis police on the scence decided terminate the dog's life so that emergency aids could take both son and mother to the hospital. The pit bull was noted as being a stray. The trustworthy citizen said "It was by the grace of God I took a shortcut I never use." This is one drive by that saved a boy's life. The wounded boy recieved minor surgery, and his mother received stitches, both are recouperating well. (Names of the good citizen and victims were not mention to respect privacy) This news story inspired me that there are still people who will stop and help aid others.
