Impressions....

Impressions....
Posted By: Darrell Anderson on July 03, 2005

Now I've read a couple of blogs dealing with why one person says one thing and then later does the exact opposite of what he or she said. Its one simple answer that everyone, either knowingly or unknowingly does... its called making an impression. This doesn't jus' happen in dating and courtship, it happens a lot in friendships, and even moreso in business relationships. See deep down everyone wants to be liked, and therefore most actually try not to show and unfavorable qualities whether it be in appearance or personality. Think about it... why do women put on make-up...to either accentuate their better qualities physically, or hide the not-so-appealing qualities. Personality wise people will do anything masquerade that bad quality the THEY RECOGNIZE!!! (It has to be recognized by the person as unfavorable) as something that is good and desirable to have around.

You can know someone for years and not ever see that "bad side of them." I know many people call this masquerade as being dishonest, but think of it this way. Would you tell someone on your first date that you have a kid and are taking care of them at home, or that your not exactly "Unknown Territory" (That goes for men and women). Or better yet tell your employer you've been fired from your last 5 jobs because you're late almost everyday. No you wouldn't, you would blow your chances at having anything if you put everything in the open at once. Granted this is no excuse for people to hide your bad side forever. Eventually that person will have to open up, and come clean. But people don' judge someone jus because they have finally shown part of the bad side they tried to hide and their no longer the perfectly good person you thought you knew. Them showing you this proves only one thing....That that person however bad their "bad side" maybe...is human. That's it plain and simple...and when you are TRUSTED!!! enough to see that side...I'll put every dollar that I have down...that that person truly views you as a friend.
