History (Made and In The Making)

Posted By: Emmanuel Brown on January 19, 2009 Throughout the last 8 years I have witnessed some of the most corrupt uses of power in my entire life. From the way that the 2000 presidential election was decided, I learned first-hand that gangsters are not always stereotypical or conventional criminals, that they often go unchecked because of the power that they are able to obtain, and that it is good to have family or friends in high places. Through the leadership of our President we went to war under false pretenses, migrated a part of the population in Louisiana, lost economic stability/credibility, and become more of an unpopular country than we already were. Over 3,000 people lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and George W. Bush declared war against everyone that he said was connected to Al-Qaeda. This not only included Osama bin Laden (who has still not been found almost 8 years later) and his supporters, this also included Iraq and cost OUR COUNTRY billions of dollars along with 1,000's of more lost lives for a war that continues to this day. This war was not only initiated for reasons that were not about Al Queda (in my opinion), it has continued for 6 years with no clear resolution in sight. This war is also opposed by a large percentage of the United States population, National Security and Military personnel, the House of Representatives, various religious leaders, and 54 other countries including the 7 of the most populated countries in the world...which means that over 1/2 of the world disagrees with what is going in Iraq right now. Where are the weapons of mass destruction and where is Osama bin Laden? What this has shown me is that power can be abused when you have it. George W. Bush proved this by using over 4,000 American lives and over $600 billion. Almost a decade of war is not the only highlight of the last 8 years, but it was probably one of the things that have lasted the longest. On the Monday, August 2005 Katrina made landfall as a category 4 hurricane and the following things took place on that day alone. The George W Bush administration finds out that a levee in New Orleans was breached, the White House circulated an internal memo stating that flooding was significant throughout the region and a levee in New Orleans has reportedly been breached sending 6-8 feet of water throughout the 9th ward area of the city, George W. Bush took a birthday picture with Sen. John McCain, Michael Brown requests that DHS dispatch 1,000 employees to the region over a 2 day period describing the situation as a near catastrophic event, a large section of the vital 17th Street Canal levee gave way late Monday morning in Bucktown after Katrina’s fiercest winds were well north, George W. Bush visited an Arizona resort to promote Medicare drug benefits, George W. Bush traveled to a California senior center to discuss Medicare drug benefits, Gov. Blanco again requests assistance from George W. Bush saying: Mr President we need your help...We need everything you've got, George W. Bush went to bed without acting on the requests to help the city of New Orleans. What this one day has shown me is that priorities such eating birthday cake and discussing Medicare outweigh the sight of people sitting on top of their homes, looting, and total anarchy. Man-made and natural disasters were not the only highlight of the last 8 years, but those are 2 of the most painful memories of the last 8 years. Last but certainly not least...We are broke as a country. The United States of America has created unity and we are on our path to have more control of our destiny, now we need to utilize that unity and begin creating a destiny that we always had the power to create. We have witnessed the mistakes that one man can make, lets do our part to correct our past and make sure that it remains a distant memory and constant reminder of a history we would like to repeat.

@ Earl Brown Maybe I am dreaming, but I have no intentions on remaining under the law and the radar of thought because I am not in the top 10% income bracket. @ Irma Robinson "Obama is not a dictator nor a savior, he is a MAN, a human being in progress...." Everyone needs to realize this and that there is no man or woman that is above and beyond being human. We owe ourselves the opportunity to make things better and we can not keep using excuses for shortcomings. We also can not search for saviors to save the lives that belong to us, we are all responsible for turning the tables and making things better. @ Earl Brown If D. Rockefellar committed murder he would win the case, but if I tripped him I would probably be all over FOX News facing a sentence of 6 to 30 years for attempted murder under old standards. The man who moved into the White House today and his wife are the same people who have had these standards shoved down their throats in segregated Chicago, IL for years. I am not expecting Barack Obama to create a miracle, but I do intend on doing my part to remind him of the same people from the South Side of Chicago (that are no where near the top 10%) and all of the people who had faith in his listening ear and understanding. This is not only his presidency, it is ours just like every other presidency. The difference is that WE allowed bullies to continuously slap us in our faces, trip us and kick us while we are down. Right now we are trying to get up and dust ourselves off, and to be honest I truly believe that some of the kicking might stop unless we lay down and continue to allow the people with $$$$'s to continue to do so. @ Earl Brown Making sure that my family eats, that we can afford to get sick, and having some of the opportunities of the upper-crust is not saying that I want their lifestyle. To be honest, if I had that status it wouldn't last long because I would want to remain close to those that can relate to my struggles. It seem that the only thing that has been left undone is proving that if this is ever attempted in America you will end up.............??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????In prison? Something like using the Constitution to go to court about that famous quote is not a lie about,"NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW?As for me the last two people I heard say this in the main stream media were PE Obama and his chief of staff so lets all get to work asking these to keep their lead and we will follow as a part of his Government of the People? I have all faith that President Obama will be a man of his word and remember the life time of pain and suffering that he himself has faced all of his life. Say like not being able to attend the church of his choice? Having the (some of) people judging his right to do what he deem best for his children (all of their lives)as "evil", "wrong","Marxis", anti-American for being the best Barack Hussein Obama that he could be and still seem to be except not being able to go amonge his chosen friends of over 20 years.... to try and force him to go against the one person who helped him be at peace trying to live(not being accepted by his White freinds/family)with in his own physical and mental body....Rev. J. Wright helped Obama to bare this cross and still believe that he was an important person that even Obama could love and respect. As a member of a proud and forgiving race/family of people, I now feel sorry for the White people as they are treated as if they do not exist. ro all of the Earls out there, a little Black history.Brown vs Board of Education was passed in the 50s. This Separate is not Equal law which over came a law of Seperate is equal that was brough up when Black people took into their hands (much like Rosa Parks)that they were not going to pay their fares to ride on the train with the baggage,!!!!They believed that they where like the (white)humans sat who should be able to sit in seats on the train as they paid fares should have granted them as it did the White skinned people. I have said all of this to say how the Civil Rights Movement came into being in the 60s to inforce Bvs B. Obama came about as Oprah's weapon for bringing attentionand equal justice for a Black youth: of a Black child getting charged with attempted murder with a kick with a tennis shoe to another White student. So now take a look at your D. Rockerfellar arguement, say Oprah's 44the President that will send the first FORMER president to prison very soon. A former president that was so popular for his abuses of non-------tha tthe will end up in prison for these war crimes. Me, I will take Oprah's MONEY(on going to prisonof the rich and powerful).
