UNIVERSITY OF MEMPHIS U OF MEMPHIS CAMPUS U OF M Hispanic Student Association Presents A Screening: "THE FORGOTTEN ROOT" Tuesday, February 10, 2009 7 p.m. The Hispanic Student Association presents a film by renowned Mexican director Rafael Rebollar titled "The Forgotten Root" Mr. Rebollar's work consists of comtemporary and historical characterisitics of the different regions of Mexico. Mr. Rebollar will present to do an introduction of his film and host a discussion of the contruction and national identiy to the African dispora. Learn more of the about the frequent term use of "twin roots" of Mexican culture, the Spanish and the Native American roots, and then "the forgotten root" of the Africans. Learn more about Afro-Mexicans I recommend this film to be seen by many who live in Memphis. For more information, call Julia Adames at 931-980-1648. You also can brang you chaps! But no chaps came with us this thime. This is a non-profit organization of ACMA with all proceeds goin to the Mountain Music Musuem located in the Bristol Mall. The musuem is price is free too!.. and tells of the history of music born in the Southern Appalachians. Many young musicians perform there and have gotten their stars in music from The Pickin Porch, with regional and national acts.
