Posted By: MIISRAEL Bride on February 09, 2009 HOMETOWN MEMPHIS: FEBRUARY 09, 2009 UNIVERSITY OF MEMPHIS STUDENTS MARCH TUTITON COSTS... 02.09.2009 Memphis, TN to Nashville TN Groups of University of Memphis Students will engage and connect with students from Tenessessee, Middle, and Jackson State Universities gather in protest of rising costs of tutution. Students will be dressed in black and carrying a casket to protest the rates of credit hours. The state has approved that each student at all Tennessee Universities be charged for each credit hour instead of a flat rate. Even part-time students are included in the rate hite. So taking to the buses they will roll in to Nashville with their signs and voices to protest the continual rising costs of education. The bus of students are scheduled to arrive between 10 and 1 p.m. today. MEANWHILE.... THE GROWING HOMELESS POPULATION INCREASES 02.09.2009 Memphis, TN The latest figures are out and Memphis population of homeless has increased to an additional 1,800. The resources are concerned it may be more. A National Census report indicates that two trends are now contributing to the rising of homeless. These two trends are less Housing and more Poverty. In addition, many people have lost jobs and their resources for basic living quarters. It was also reported that wear and tear of funding has fading dramatically. More single homeless people are roaming, but some include homeless families as well. This report on the homeless are among all races of Memphis citizens. A spokewoman at one the homeless shelters stated the increase has been overwhelming and it is evident it may continue to worsen. MEMPHIS IS HOLLYWOOD....AGAIN! 02.08.2009 51st GRAMMY AWARDS Memphis own Rev. Al Green performed in as a"fill spot" last night at the 51st Grammy Awards show. With no reshersals or anything, he proved to be a professional stage appearance personality!. Not only that, Al Green picked up two of those grammys while he was there! Well, it's all so cool. I'm sure Al didn't mind performing leaving there with two prestigious grammys...One for each hand....Mmmm..."That's a grammy in two hands which makes Al worth a bit more in the "Green". BUT...that' cause.. ANY WAY THE WIND BLOWS...IT'S COOL 02.09.2009 Memphis, TN Today's winds will be whipping Memphians about. Wind gusts are anticipated to reach around record 40 miles per hours in some areas of the city. However, no severe storms are reported in the local area during this report. Rain is on it's way... So be prepared to take your scarf and or leave your umbrella.. You might take off like Mary Poppins or swim like a Peabody Duck... Whooo.. or quack! Who knows, weather men can't get it right all the time. I think I'll take time to have a cup of java..before going out. Enjoy your day!
