A QUEEN'S CROWN: A STATEMENT, AN ASSERTION, A DECLARATION, A DEMAND FOR NOTICE

A QUEEN
Posted By: Min.Dr.LaDonna Blaylock D.D. on February 12, 2009

It came to my attention that out of all you high- fluent black folks, not nobody spoke on the Queen of Soul's high profile "Bosillno Brim" she wore at the inaugural ceremony.
Why not I thought, you all talk about anybody and everything else !
To me, her hat was to be taken seriously, as is she.

For the record, Aretha looked great, a Queen, a Goddess, a Mistress of Soul. Beyonce who ?
But, more than her attire, the striking thing about her appearance on the inaugural platform was the fact that a black American was standing in front of the world and singing " My Country 'Tis of Thee" without irony, for once.

Goddess in the house yaw !!
Let me hear you say "Yeah" !

Oh well, to each her own !
Just like her hat, she has a right to do what she wants with it.
Some people think Beyonce is arrogant.
Like I said, they call that an "OH WELL !

Aretha Franklin -- the hat made a stunning statement, she is a legion in her own time. She still has a soul-stirring voice, even in the cold. The fabulous Queen of Soul deserves R-E-S-P-E-C-T. She has nothing to prove to anyone!

Thanks My Sisters !
Teach them !
They think they know, But they know NOTHING !!!
I don't know either one of these Superstars personally, so I can't speak on arrogance about them.
For me to judge them on what I think or have heard, would be narrow thinking and small mindness.
But you see, thats how we got this way in the first place, (women ).
Always got something negative to say about a Sister and don't even know her !
I've said it often, at one time we wouldn't even tell each other our slips were showing.
We need to get off of that slave mentality way of thinking.
Especially when it comes to each other.
The devil loves it !

I thought her hat made a "Queenly-statement" Kudos to Aretha for saying in a dignified manner that even though Beyonce dissed her at the Grammys and called Tina Turner "The Queen of Soul" "she still loved her" now that's class, the reason there is so much vitriol against Beyonce--as stated by Mary J, Pink, and now Janet; after being attacked by Beyonce regarding her childhood versus the Jacksons; she said " I grew up middle class and had Porches and blah blah" as opposed to the poverty that the Jackson family faced initially , and this after Janet had complimented her and said "Beyonce has done everything right."

Janet is worth 300 million dollars and La Toya has been a "BAP" Black American Princess all of her adult life-which is as long as Beyonce has been alive.

That's why people in the know who are very secure within themselves do not like Beyonce. She is vain about her technically enhanced looks, uneducated, despite the public relations "plants that her public relations team puts out, and is really beginning to believe the image that was created for her.

Aretha is Aretha, The Queen of Queens! and y'all know I LOVE Tina! I also love Ashanti, Christina Milan, Mya, Jill Scott etc so that jealousy charge that people try to throw at anyone who peeps Ms. Knowles vanity card has to endure is nothing but an attempt to stop the criticism. But it's not going away.

It's her attitude that makes people dislike her and that phony attempt at "humility" she is as humble as any dictator can be. Every statment is carefully monitored and when allowed to say speak for herself she puts "foot in mouth"..mystudents at BMCC in 2003 didn't l like her , so what's changed?

Aretha Franklin, as Clive Davis once said is one of the greatest singing voices of all time.

WOW! I was missing alll this!--LOL
I guess y'all know that Queen Ree-Ree's hat went straight to the top in sales across the world!!! The hat maker went into overtime cranking out replicas and guess who got the first one....the Smithsonian!!!!:)-

and as ancient history tell us, "If you're gonna swing at the Queen...don't miss!"

Long live the Queen......that was a beautiful rendition of Tis of Thee and I would have been a little insulted to see a young artist symbolizing our triump. Other than that, and I'm sure y'all wanted to know MO-LOL, let's go on down to the Smithsonian and check out that display of the Queen's hat!
Peace and Love to you sweet ladies...

Aretha is so much a part of the 60s that so few of our people takes time to learn or they would see that Aretha was invited by our President him self because of her being a part of African-American's historical struggle to make this day for him possiable and not about a personality or fashion show!!!! Aretha represents a form of then and now. for example,Beyonce would not have even been the star she was today at the salary that major stars like "A"retha / Etta earned!!!Lets not forget they could not enter through the front doors, sit and eat nor sleep in those big clubs they sang their number one hits in!!!Please give this Queen-Goddess the respect and historical page she deserves...

So lets just over look that maybe Aretha will give them her hat when the Obama's can return to the church of their choice or when she gets a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T(smile) for being human and her voice being as susceptable to the COLD as the musical instruments, as I did hear her say this is what happened to her voice....Her voice a gift from G-O-D!!!!!?

Goddess in the house "Yaw"!!
Let me hear you say "yeah"!

And, may I ask that the Goddess-Queen Aretha who paved the way the road that made the singing Goddess of today's life so much better for them and for all of mankind, someday be RESPECTED beyond instant gradification and respect for freedoms not just for some but for all that we want for our selves, the right to make our own choices on what makes us happy...(smile)

...and, I hope that those on this site remember my saying that it would be Aretha singing for the Obama's all along over ruling Byonce(canceling her trip in Japan so covered by the media) and Jennifer. The Obama's are for real and are not there for show or to please the public. They are too proud to be African-Americans to be any thing less than for real...They represent Black IN America not a new media sound bite...WAKE UP

I do agree with you Juanita as she is a legion whose hat should go to the M. L. King, or the African-American history museum, etc. or better yet to the Barack H. Obama library in 8 years. Those colors she chose were wonderful as it takes Black and White to make Gray. What a glorous race to be long to and what a glorous time to be a member of the Black community.

YES WE CAN
YES WE DID
YES WE WILL
