Hope to go to Hampton University Next Year :)

Posted By: Latasha Watson on February 15, 2009 Hey there. Today was my first day on Hampton U's campus. I asked one of the students today if they knew where the administration bldg was. After she told me, me and my husband drove off the campus back to Norfolk (2day is sun and I know they were not open). I know that is where I want to go to school next year for my MD. I wanted to go to Norfolk State at first but I think now my heart is set on HU. Even my husband said that I seem more of a HU girl than an NSU girl because of my character . The reason I am on here tonite is because I would like to network to current and former HU students about life at HU. Is it hard 2 get in there? Will I be accepted as a non-traditional student? Can I make the cut? It just seems like a really nice school and I really hope I can go there next year. HI! Does HU have an MD program?? I know it has the Doctor of Pharmacy program. NSU does not have the closed campus like HU does. NSU students do well, however. It is all in what U put inot the college experience when U get there. HU girls are just a little more protected in some respects because they city is not all around like at Norfold State which is located in the midst of heavy traffic, the Navy yards, the Interstates and exchanges surrounding the campus. The Virginia Consortium of Colleges and Universities means if you will be able to study at ODU, NSU and at HU if you see a course in your field that the school you register for does not carry and you want to take it, you will be able to at no additional cost to you. Sorry Latasha, I should have read yr info be4 posting!! So U are familiar with the area. Get yr information together, a portfolio showing yr school grades and work you have done since graduation and try to visit the registrar's office. Get yr money straight. I have seen grown men crying in the lobby at HU because someone screwed up their financial aid and HU did not cut them any slack. Good Luck! When you leave there as a graduate, the things you will learn about dealing with the public will come from dealing with the staff in administration there!! And you will be ahead of the game!!

thks cece! sorry i am getting back late, home computer is messed up a lil :( thk u 4 the info. i heard so much about the school, tryin 2 b ahead of the game with everything. i heard the master's degree program is CRUCIAL! i was also thinking about ODU as well but i wanted to go to an hbcu, which was one of my dreams. even if i only take one class or two, i can say that i went there. cece, i am currently a student at strayer univ, in va beach. will HU accept my BBA from there?
