Hey! I know how u are feeling. Just a few tips that helped me get thru my scholarship interviews! First....take a deep breath b4 u go in there and b4 u answer questions. Think the question over in ur head to make sure you answer the question completely and to the best of ur ability. Make eye contact with everyone in the room. Make sure u have good posture when you sit and a tip that Ive learned is to not sit down until they tell u to. Make sure u speak clearly!

Now to the question............
They might ask u one or more of the following...
Why do you believe you should recieve this sholarship?
What sets you apart from the other candidates for this scholarship?
How do you plan to give back to your community once you graduate?
What made u choose that major?
What family values do you have?
If you didn't win this scholarship, how do u plan to pay for college?
What is the biggest problem that faces teens(in ur community or around the world)?

Now questions u can ask them....
What qualification do you look for when you choose candidates for ur scholarship?
If I do win the scholarship, how will I be notified?
If I do win the scholarship and I have any further questions, may I contact you?

Well thats all I can think of in such sort of a time. Hope u do well and win the scholarship. Hope I gave u sum good advice and helped claim ur nerves down.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

Tiffany hit a lot of the major points as far as physical tendancies and questioning in the interview. The most important one is of course, "why do you deserve this scholarship?" Even though all of the questions are important, how you answer this question will show them most of what they're trying to find out. It's really not a flexible question, so they're going to get a straight answer out of you that will let them know where your mind is. They may ask how you plan to pay for school without the scholarship, but that depends largely on if it is need-based or merit-based.

The best thing you can do when going into a scholarship interview is be prepared. Be familiar with the organization that sponsors the scholarship because it may give you some insite to the panel conducting the interview. What is their primary focus in business? Will they be primarily male or female or a combination? Will this be a predominately white or black panel? This important pre-interview information. Next, you need to be familiar with your accomplishments and goals. A lot of people think that since the questions are about them and what they've done that there is no need to think about them before hand. This is definitely wrong. It would surprise you how little you may know about your goals, why you've chosen them, what you've accomplished and why. This is where most will suffer their downfalls. Think about why you're going into the field that you are going into (even though the reasons may change eventually). Is this an area that I accel in? Have I always been interested in it, or is it just about the money? Do I have activities to help support my claims? What do I plan to do with my degree? Have I done my research on what this career actually entails?

If it's possible....get someone to help you simulate an interview. Be sure it is someone who you can be serious with and who will be honest with you. I suggest a teacher, principal, employer....someone who is knows enough to help, but is not so close to you that they will be to either extreme(critical or passive). I could go on about this for a good while, but I'd better stop here since this is becoming rather long. Remember, be familiar with your accomplishments and goals. Have examples of events that show your character. Be aware of your body language and vocal manarisms (sp?). You'll be fine. I know I threw a lot at you for such a short time period, but try to take what you can and let it help you. If you've got any more questions, don't hesitate to ask. Good luck to you....

Lord, please watch over Ashley as she prepares for this interview. Go before her and touch the hearts of the people conducting the interview. Take control of Ashley's heart and mind so that she may answer the questions exactly how they should be answered. Give her your perfect peace so that all her nervousness will dissipate. We thank you for even placing her in this position and also thank you in advance for this victory. In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen!

Claim what's yours, Baby Girl.
