Southern University at New Orleans gains four All-Americans at NAIA track championships

Posted By: Eddie Francis on March 09, 2009 NEW ORLEANS, LA - Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) placed 15th in the nation at the NAIA 2009 Indoor National Championships in Johnson City, Tennessee today, producing four NAIA All-Americans in two events. The meet took place in the "Mini Dome" at East Tennessee State University. The team's success was based on athletes' performances in three events. The final 4 x 400 team of Norbert Miller, Adrian Simpson, Chadrick Nelson and Rayon Golding finished 2nd in the nation. All four are NAIA 2009 All-Americans. In the 400 meter dash, Simpson placed 3rd and Miller placed 6th. The two qualify as All-Americans, as well. Mekel Downer, a favorite in the 200 meter dash, finished 7th in the nation after suffering an injury in the final race.
