Message from a FAMU Alumnus: Time Time To Take Responsibility for Educating OUR Own Children

Posted By: Samuel Burnham on March 21, 2009 Greetings Friends & Activists, Please forgive me for the long delay since the last time I have reached out to you as a subscriber of Emerging Minds Online Magazine. We value the trust you have in us by providing your email address so we can communicate with you on an ongoing basis, and our intent is to only use it when we have something valuable to communicate that is worth your time. I am convinced that the remainder of this email qualifies. Today we published a Q&A with charter school founder and community activist Baba Amefika Geuka. Baba Geuka is a man that I truly admire and someone I can personally vouch for in terms of his commitment to education, institution building, and African people worldwide. He founded the Joseph Littles-Nguzo Saba Charter School 10 years ago and now is committed to teach as many people as possible how to start a charter school in order to create a nationwide network of African-centered schools. This effort is critical, and I implore you to take the time to read this article. The school is facing a budget deficit like many other non-profits face in this troubling economy.
