Journey to the Well Lesson# 1

Journey to the Well Lesson# 1
Posted By: Tonja Williams on April 07, 2009

Hello Everyone here is lesson#1.
If you can share with me a better way to present to the group let me know. I will be working on loading and auto version or something soon. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your active participation. Pastor Tonja.

Journey to the Well Lesson 1: Adapted from Bishop Dr. Vashti M McKenzie’s Book Journey to the Well

Prayer: Father open our spiritual eyes that we may see you working in us through out this Journey to the Well. Help us to remain faithful to the entire journey during the class and after. Remind us of the accountability that is being developed by taking this journey. Help us see the changes that need to be made and accept them. But most importantly help us come to you to seek the direction to make the changes, help to change or to change them yourself. Father we want to thank you for allowing us to participate in such a move as this and we treasure every moment. We give you the glory and honor in you son’s matchless name “Jesus” Amen.

Scriptures of Reference
John 4:4-30, 39 Bases for this study
Romans 8:24-25
Hebrews 11:1

Questions to Ponder:
1. Do we REALLY know who Jesus is?
2. How do we respond to His Call, questions, instructions, guidance and communication?
3. If we really knew him would we question him? Doubt him?
4. When we respond is our response in the natural being directed by what we see with our natural eye? Or Through the Spirit being directed by what is known and seen with our spiritual eye?
5. Do we think we can keep secrets from God?
6. Do we still think we can hold on to our own agendas once we have experienced the Living Water for real?
7. Is your hope on a life changing even or that God will not expose you if you continue your own way?
8. Do we want to change or do we want to stay the way we are?
9. What is your last hope that you are holding on to, is it a godly hope or a man thought hope? Do you have some empty water pots (water pots will represent your hope that have not come to full term and manifestation yet)?
10. What do you do when you are down to your last thing?
11. Why do we wait until we are down to our last thing to trust and try God?
12. Are you seeking transformation?
13. Are we willing to let go those things that will prevent us from receiving the Living Water and all he has for us?
14. Are we really ready to see the Lord and him at work in us?
15. Are we really ready to accept the Lord and his work in us?
16. What Scripture do you stand on to help you keep your hope and see you through?

Each week we will have Questions to Ponder. By going through each lesson honestly and seeking the wisdom of God in the matters concerning us we will reveal with his help those things that we need to change in our lives to fully receive from him and recognize his Glory.

In your journals answer these questions to ponder and complete your assignments. Also each day do a reflection of what you have received by answering each question.

The Journey to the Well you are about to take is more than an attempt to interpret the biblical test: rather, it is the telling of the story from our side of the page as we emerge as a significant part of the salvation plan of God. Many of us have been wounded by poor decisions; decisions we made and decisions others made for us.

Well Lessons

Well Lesson# 1 When we get don to our last anything, thinking there is nothing left, when we think that the last thing, last nerve, last drop of water, last dollar is all gone, over – hold on.

Well Lesson#2 God can change your situation and that God can change you.

Well Lesson#3Learn to celebrate one hope at a time.

Well Words

Jeremiah 29: 11
Hebrews 11:1
Isaiah 40:31
Psalm 42:5
Hebrews 6:19
Romans 12:12

Well Sabbatical

1. Write in your travel log or journal about a time when you had only one hope.

2. Write about a time you were down to your last something.

3. Spend five minutes meditating on the hymn “My hope is Built on Nothing Less.”

Well Language

1. One day things will change.

2. Hope is the key that unlocks the door.

3. If I have hope, I have help

4. With God, nothing is impossible.

5. I am confident in the name of Jesus Christ.

6. I am capable of doing all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

7. Because of Christ, I am confident that I can respond to knowledge, information, events, and challenges in my life.

8. Carry on, you can make it!

Well Work

1. Make a list of your own last things
2. Read 1 Kings 17.
3. Start your collage. Select your surface: Large board, poster board, cork, canvas, bulletin board, a wall, or a large drawing pad. Be creative! Collect images and objects that remind you of your hopes, and mount them on your collage surface.
4. Write in your journal about when you were down to your last things. Also write about what is the one thing you are hoping for now.

Now you men folk may say that some of this seems like woman stuff well it kind of is but God revealed to me because I said the same thing when he gave me the study for everyone to participate. Many of us are visual people and until we put something in writing or it is taken out of our minds and place on something in which we can see everyday grow right before our eyes, then we can become more committed to the change and all seems more real. Most importantly we are now held accountable for whatever we write, say or do. If others see what we are doing they will ask and we have to tell them and then God will hold us to it. So let’s all just look past the women/man thing and see God.

See You At the Well!
