SUNO begins qualifying for NAIA outdoor national championships

Posted By: Eddie Francis on April 08, 2009 NEW ORLEANS, LA – Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) qualified runners for two events at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships scheduled for May 21st through May 23rd in Edwardsville, Illinois. Sprinter Hylton Cambpell qualified for the 100 meter dash after running a time of 10.84 seconds at the LSU Relays held on March 27th and 28th. Campbell placed 7th at LSU and is ranked 7th in the NAIA. The 4 x 400 relay team of Adrian Simpson, Norbert Miller, Rayon Golding and Peter McFarlane qualified after running a time of 3:17.25 at LSU, placing 8th. At the Texas Relays held April 1st to 4th, the team improved its time to 3:13.81 thanks to the performance of Simpson, Campbell, McFarlane and Karl James. The team placed 4th in the invitational section of the relays. SUNO is ranked 2nd in the NAIA in the 4 x 400 relays. SUNO will compete in Southern University’s Pelican Relays on April 10th and 11th.
