Posted By: MIISRAEL Bride on April 17, 2009 HOMETOWN MEMPHIS: 04.17.2009 EVENTUALLY YOU'LL HAVE TO MOVE 04.15.2009 Memphis, TN After 102 years of holding it's annual convention in Memphis, Tennessee, COGIC is looking for a new site to hold it's growing members of convention visitors to another city's site. Members of the COGIC planning committee met on Weddesday, April 15, 2009 to determine where the next place will take them. Cities and sites are still moving up for discussion. The spokeman for the committee, Lorgan Mann stated to a local news reporter.."It's like when you have more children you look for a bigger house with more rooms, then eventually you'll have to move." Visitors of the convention complained that Memphis did not have enough afforable hotels and occupancy to house the 50,000 visitors each year, and that the travel to the convention locations were too distant to move. (COGIC stands for Church of God In Christ.) The COGIC Convention is .....or was; once held yearly each November. COGIC--50, 000 members, now that's some God moving children! Head' EM.. UP! Mov'em OUT! FOLLOW THE LEADERSHIP! 04.15.2009 Memphis, TN The Southern Christian Leadership Council has decided it will makes it's move to Memphis this August. The SCLC was started by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The council promotes Christian leadership in communties for positive enlightment of bibical teachings in acts of good faith and obedient Divine leadership. The convention will be held at The Peabody Hotel the week of August 01-05, 2009. People movin...in people movin out.. MAGIC WANTS TO MAKE SOME MOVES 04.15.2009 Memphis, TN Irwin "Magic" Johnson visited Memphis City Schools and talked Superintent, Dr. Kriner Cash this week to aid in building a site for Memphis students. The site would give aid to students in issues such as Health Education, Community Pride and Restoration. Mr. Johnson said that the center will include computers and study places to help assist Memphis students to excel in education. The Magic Johnson Foundation was started in 1991 and helps thousands of educators and students every year. Mr. Johnson said.."Just show me the place and we'll make the move." Eventually, everybody is moving somewhere...read about this.. EASTER SUNDAY MOVED THE CELL DOORS OPEN 04.12.2009 Memphis, TN Cells cracked open on Easter Sunday for Tamara Mitchell Ford. Ms. Mitchell-Ford is the divorcee of former, Senator John Ford. Both John and Tamara were serving jail time at the same time. The former Senator is still serving, but Ms. Mitchell-Ford was relased on Easter Sunday after serving a short term for drinking while driving and a few acts of property damages. Walking away from the jail cell Ms. Mitchell-Ford is looking forward moving on to a new fresh start. Did she get a Easter basket?...Don't know, I'm sure she'll crack open a few eggs. Next... APRIL 15TH DEADLINE HAD THOUSANDS MOVING IN MEMPHIS 04.15.2009 Memphis, TN April 15th was the deadline for filing your 2008 taxes. Thousands of Memphians waited for the last day to make their move. Lines were long at the drive thru mailboxes to meet that postmark date. Tax filers will face a penalty if they haven't made the deadline. There is hope for an extension, but you'll need to move on working on getting that extension any day now. There was a Good Samaritian making his moves with free postage stamps at the downtown post office location, Sonny Howard, said he was trying to help out giving away postage to those late filers who didn't have adequate postage. That was a nice move Sonny...I wonder if he has any postage left? CHOP! CHOP! Eventually, it has come for me, and I've got to move. Thank you for MOVING by just to read. ..."It's like when you have more children you look for a bigger house with more rooms, ... COGIC is a huge organization...I attended one of their convocations in 2001. It was very interesting to see all the "Church Mothers" in their white and how smart they looked in their dresses. Faith is absolutely the key to moving mountains sister!! Yes, it's huge! Memphis will miss COGIC visitors. Along with the revenue it's losing the Memphis businessness are surely taking it at a loss. That's the way it is when you're growing you just keep moving. Faith moves indeed and it only takes a little! Monday, April 20th 2009 at 9:29PM |
