SIX WOMEN RECEIVE LEGENDS AWARD 04.29.2009 Memphis, TN Six of Memphis finest women receive honors last night at The Legends Award. Dorothy "Happy" Jones, Jeanne Varnell, Maxine Smith, Minerva Johnican, Susan Sanford and Jane Walters were presented with this special award for women who have made lives better for others in their services. The women were present yesterday morning at the Memphis Cook Convention Center's Grand Ballroom. The speaker for the event was Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, former Lieutenant Govenor of Maryland and the eldest child of Robert F. and Ethel Kennedy. The evening also included the Legends Award Reception was from 6-8 p.m. at The Peabody. What an exceptional tribute to Memphis Women. That's six finest ...here's a story of eight who fell between the thin lines... Women! Let's take your mug shots! BLOTCH! EIGHT WOMEN CLERKS INDICTED IN THE COUNTY CLERK OFFICE 04.28.2009 Memphis, TN Eight women clerks were accused of processing and taking funds in exchange for favors. The clerks were arrested and 3 at present are facing charges of taking a bribe. The favors included receivng payments to process car registrations and car tags. The investigation includes one city council woman, Barbara Swearengen Ware who is suspious of paying to have her personal vehicle registered for tags; paying one or more of the clerks too. Council woman Ware is presently in the hospital for a unknown medical condition. News of this story is still unfolding because it includes several other business and car dealerships that also paid for favors among the eight clerks. Coverage in this story continues to unfold along the lines. Don't give me that line...I want to know... HOW COULD Y'ALL DO THAT TO HER? 04.30.2009 Memphis, TN A 74 year old woman was robbed in her drive-way as she was leaving yesterday to visit her ill sister. The 74 year old woman, Theodosia Harvey said as she was leaving when two men approached her and forced her to lay on the ground. They then took her purse and cell phone and drove away in her car! The two robbers then went to visit a local pawn shop to pawn some jewerly she had placed in her purse. Her car was spotted by investigators and were arrested as they waited in line at the pawn shop...then they were taken away while trying to make the jewerly pawn. Terrance Moore and Mikel Cathey now are facing 500,000 bond plus some other lines of charges. Ms. Harvey said: "For some reason I put two rings and necklace in a pouch and put it in my purse." "That's a line only thatcan be understood in The Women's Room." Well....FLUSH! I'll be back to use the Women's Room again... Thanks for coming in for a read. Sorry guys..you'll have to go....
