I was late releasing this issue of "A Little Southern News" I wasn't being chased by dogs...but, my friend Cassandra was. You'll have to read all about her dog's chasing right here. Come on then, I've made you wail long enough! Get ready for Memphis in May. Where I'm asking..Who let them dogs out? "A Little Southern News" Maybe...I'll see your name featured in this issue! WELCOME FRIENDS! A LITTLE SOUTHERN NEWS Issue No. 30 HEADLINES: MAY I ASK...WHO LET THEm DOGS OUT! THE BEALE STREET MUSIC FESTIVAL May 1-3 Bands, groups, strumming and singing in the rain! The entire festival was still a success dis’pite the rain Pouring down. Thousands of folks showed up. I Di’dnt attend dis festival but many who did said that They show had a good time! Let’s see what waiting on us now… IT’S INTERNATIONAL SALUTE TO CHILE May 4-9 Ya’ll will be enjoying a salute to the Country of Chile’ in “chilly” many of them speak “Portegeese” But ya’ll can still say Ola! There will be something goins on every day. All we needs to do is follow the smoke…. SMOKE........ Them grills will be loaded with sause and meat! They’ll be selling some too! This annual contest is held in Tom Lee Park Downtown at Riverside Drive and Beale Street. It's the biggest sight seeker ever! Even if it still may be raining, They’ll be smoking and sautéing them ribs on the grills. Look a here’ Miss Gussie Mayes is helping me wit cooking too! We can sat a spell …..and put our napkings on to Taste a plate. Cassandra, has her mouth fixed on a tasting, but, HERE'S HER DOG'S TAIL... While she was out wit her two chullens' the other day, walkin they dog Cinnamin; she said they was approached by two pit bull dogs-- and she had to wrestle them down. Cassandra told me she grabbed them both up under her armpits and threw out in the street..Po' dogs! Cinnamin, her own dog..grabbed her wig and ran off! {But that's another one of hur' dog's stories} Dog! Cassandra's a Southern Gul wit "Hog-Dog's attitude!" She probably looked something like this when she wrestled them two pit bulls! Naw! ..she's really nice! ...I reckon. " I like her 'round when that Scissors Man is near-bye." GRRr..rrrrahs!..... Here’s some days and few times for ya’ll during the whole week of the contest. Thursday May 14th 5:30 Official Lighting of the grill 6:00 Miss Piggy idol contest 8:00 Miss Piggy finalist My friend Myrah.. Is already a just little over weight So if she entered the Miss Piggy Contest…. “Myrah you'd make a very pretty Miss Piggy” Friday May 15th 6:30 Awards for the best booth, Team Shirt, Anythang But : Competition, sause, wangs and baked beans 7:30 Ralph Stanley & Clinch Mountain (“Who ever dat is?) 9:15 Simplified (Simplified? Dat' could mean anythang….I guess?) Dis' here is OUR PIGGY BOOTH… CHIEF "Oh' neber mind..Rickey only mis'pelled "CHEF" Saturday, May 16th 6:00 Comedy Tennessee 6:30 Awards Ceremony 8:00 Bobby “Blue” Bland Rounding it up’ ya’ll come on back cause…on Sunday we’ is watching the sun go down. Dis here is “A Little Southern News” so let’s get on down to De’ river. May I ask.."Who let THEm dogs out! Just in case ya’ll anin't heard, the man who sang "Old Man River"..passed away earlier this year, so they’s got three dogs who’ll be rocking and sangin... SUE.... .... WEEE! THREE DOG NIGHT will be performing at the SUNSET SYMPHONY May 23rd Tom Lee Park You’ll need a ticket, but ya’ll get to rock it with the Three Dogs. We’ll make show all the pigs is gone cause Them dogs will be out! "Neber hear of a Rock Band Sunset Symphony, no whereS else BUT in Memphis..." "One day, I'm gon have a long talk with them Memphians." Al’right who let them dogs out? Ya'll gets to Rock til' the sun gone down…..” This here is Grandpa James taking his self a rockin.. I’m leaving ya’ll to watch the sun set…over them mountains. I’m goin to bed early.. Cassandra, come get yo’ dog! She's jumpin all over my dress…. Here's yall Tip: "When walking your dog or dogs, be sure to keep them sweet critters on a lease! " WAIT! YA'LL BE CAREFUL TOO... OF THEMS SWINE FLEW!
