Posted By: Tiffany Smith on July 19, 2005 Aight, so I'm transferring schools this coming fall. I'm coming from VA and going to GA. The school I last went to wasn't an all black school. I mean, we had plenty of black folk there, but it still wsan't all black. So now I'm embarking on a new experience in my life. I've been told by many, that this will be an experience like no other. People have told me that they wouldn't trade going to a black school for anything in the world. I've been hearing about sororities/fraternities, football games (and how people come just for the band and half-time show), 8 counts (which someone had to physically show me what they were), basketball games, networking with people, making life long friendships. I mean, that's a lot! I'll be a big girl and admit that I'm a little nervous. I've been around black folk all my life. All my friends are black. But it's still going to be slightly different. All the schools I've been to (since elementary) have been mixed with all kinds of races and nationalities. The area that I live in now is extremely diverse. So coming from a diverse and entering a world of only my people will be a transition for me. I know I'll be able to handle it, but the anxiousness still exists within me.
