Dee Gray Provisioner at Cannot Say I'm probably not going to be popular for this, but I disagree with Reverend Wright's "God d--m America" or anything else, let alone from the pulpit, which is not a place to be expressing oneself that way. (And again, it's must my opinion). That wasn't about God, which is what a sermon is supposed to be about-- how to grow in faith, how to improve as a person of faith, how to become 'fishers of men', how to apply LOVE and not hatefulness and vegeance, etc. Romans 12:13-19 exposes the wrongness of a vengeful, angry spirit: 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. 17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,”[a] says the Lord. "Bless" those who curse you. "Bless," not curse. "Bless." So putting God's name on anyone else's damnation is dangerous...and frankly, wrong. And that's not me saying that; the Word says that. And I say dangerous knowingly planting the wrong seeds has accountability. As a leader, he and those in similar positions, have a lot of responsibility and with that responsibility comes accountability...not to man, but ultimately to God. I prayed for Rev. Dee Gray Provisioner at Cannot Say Irma, I can't answer many of the questions you asked because I am NOT God and do not sit in His throneroom. What I stated is what I know to be true. And I mean this in the most possible way: I refuse to get into a philosophical debate because my spirituality (my personal relationship with God) is not something I care to defend, justify or quantify. I will say that because Rev. Wright is a Christian, we indeed study from the same Bible and serve the same God. Unless he's something other than a Christian, we absolutely serve the same God. And for the record, people of all races and nationalities attend the church of which I am a member, and we have a wonderful time in the Lord together, on one accord. We also meet twice during the week, once for Bible study and the other for women's ministry and that is an awesome supportive, bonded fellowshipping experience. God is awesome. Finally, religion forces one to live boxed in. A personal relationship with the Father is a deeply spiritual one, very affirming, comforting and sure. And I can't describe the sheer awesomeness of it. It's something you'd have to experience to really understand. To have to explain it suggests that you have not (and that is perhaps because we...as in you and me...might NOT serve the same god. ROBINSON IRMA UC, Davis class of 1992 Siebra, I apologize for getting so out of control on your wonderful post and for ever one on this site who unlike ME still fight for equality for my race by not forgiving nor forgetting how we still have no non White's in the Senate, the Supreme Court , proper health care and education for our children or even finding them inportant enough to put up their being missing as a major news idem ,believing as the Bush administration with their family christian family value that war is just and it has the blessings of God as long as they have dark skins and do not worship our White God; and this is ALL GOD'S WILL...then please forgive me as you continue to not be like me and totally ignoring all of tose words of the Bible that Dee just used to prove how she has not disagreements with White America as Rev. Wright and I do...you see I do not fear the White man's God and will resist and damn any and all countys that oppress any peoples as it is a blessing from G-O-D. And, I do not know how you feel about this but I am thankful to the God that you love I will not be going to heaven at all for being too proud to forgive my oppresive government or the Jews who own the media and who without their money we could have never been brought to the Americas as slaves. We would have been able to continue to pay our own fares to come to America as we were doing, before becoming nonhuman(smile) I will continue to fight and to hate any form of opression or the things they have given us to keep us under a form of mind control that has and will continue to have Blacks against Blacks to keep them safe and happy. Wright has degree(S) in the bible or that he preaches what I learned while getting my degree in African and African-American study or that I can study Buddhism with the NOI even though I left out I study Jevoha Witness with my oldest daughter or Morman with a friend of mine or that I have had a class called compartative religiion???And, I am still planing to may be study Judism not that they have a Black femles as a Rabbi.LEARINIG IS MY GOAL IN LIFE.This is why I love to dialoge, but a lot of people just believe this is an argument and has nothing to do with getting a look at how others look at a subject.Lot lke not likeing aperson because of the color of their skin or theri religio without getting to know that person. ROBINSON IRMA UC, Davis class of 1992 1. I do not 'worry' about the color of my skin..but there is a reason that you call youself a Black woman and not a White woman...AM I CORRECT? Does this mean you are stuck on the word Black or skin color?I identify Black for the same reason I identify as African-American that I use to identify as Negro. It is because society norms changes (like the Bible?)...so where does the need to worry or any thing else about the color of my skin? I do not. But, I would raise holy hell if I woke up one morning and saw that my skin was White, what a take down that would be for me! (smile) 2.I chose the Black God, because a Black god would never use his holy words to hang me because of the Black color of my skin or use his Bible to train me not to be upset for being looked on as LESS THAN therefore I do not need to have a 10 year longer sentence in prison for the same crime as a White person for the same crime even thought the White person has been in prison 5 times and this is my first arrest!!!And, almost forgot I should not be angry that the KKk burned down my home town, because the Bible tells me that emotions are not natural, but must be controled because of something I read...Hell what next not cry when my child died, because it is God's will?Well isn't laughing and crying both emotions?????I think so this is why if I want to hate, I will, If I want to like a Muslim, Catholic or a Morman, I will, because it is the person not the Bible he/she quotes, but refuse to put into action...for example, Dee would you be willing to attend a KKK rally with me????!!!?I am dead serious on this... Speaking only for me, I have prayed all of my life and still do at least 2 times a day each and every day.what has done more to make me the proud African-American that I am today is the day I stoped wanting to go to meet that White God. ROBINSON IRMA UC, Davis class of 1992 ONLY IN AMERICA, the country that has freedom of : ASSEMBLY,SPEECH, RELIGION...Wake Up America, because if you notice these are two Black men who were only exercising their CIVIL RIGHTS(?!?)...(smile) But, than who is going to defend these two men when W -E have remained so sclient when this man who is now our president was denied his right to attend the church of his choice.FOR 25 years his family attended this church, in peace and with respect!!!!!!! There is no way that I will ever believe that both Obama and OPrah were forced to become members of this man's church byhim using "terroist threats that they would send the KKK after them if they did not come to this church...for the spiritual leader ship helping these two to continue to not forget being proud of their skin there helping them to not take the same road as too many of our Rich and famous and powerful Black people have taken... I am sure I do not have to mention names in this matter of what happens to US when we try to act like we are 100% accepted by the White manwhen they tell us this lie. So my people WAKE UP and see what has, is happening to these two Black people who were members of Trinity intil the public forced them to no longer be able to practice their Civil and Moral right to attend the church of their choice there by being able to place the blame squarely where it belongs.
