Director of Technology Services at Marygrove College

Posted By: Jehan Bunch on July 08, 2009 The Director of Technology Services is responsible for all aspects of information management and control, including long term planning; supervision of technology employees; budget preparation and management; recommendations for technical acquisitions and development of standards guidelines and policies as they relate to the use of technology. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •Exhibit positive leadership skills and demonstrate a proven ability to work collaboratively within a College environment and the broader external community. •Develop and implement the College’s technology plan. •Have primary responsibility for information technology infrastructure including network security, the inter- and intra-building wiring plant, voice networks, data networks, telephone and internet connections, E-mail, audiovisual initiatives, and instructional platforms (i.e., Blackboard). •Maintain key IT support services for faculty, staff and students. •Develop the operational goals and budgets for the department that align with the overall College’s plan. •Develop a highly skilled and well-managed information technology staff, including recruitment, development and disciplinary actions. •Practice good management for IT hardware, software and equipment. •Keep current with the latest technologies. •Assures the delivery of responsive, quality academic/administrative computing services to the campus community. •Provides for continued growth and improvement of computer services by coordinating the development of short- and long-range plans for the department, establishing goals and objectives which support those plans, and evaluating progress towards their achievement. •Coordinates telecommunication initiatives, including data, voice and video components. •Promotes open and viable channels of communication with all constituents by advising and conferring with directors and department heads about computing and network issues and concerns. •Promotes the efficient use of campus resources by participating in the development of software and hardware standards and ensuring that infrastructure costs are included in all computer requirement analyses. •Plans for the future growth/integration of information technology by serving on appropriate committees and participating in developing and coordinating clear, concise campus IT policies, procedures and guidelines. •Promotes efficient use of technology funds by preparing bid specifications for campus technology purchases. •Maintains competency and professional currency through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses required by the Chancellor. Qualifications / Requirements: •A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Management, Computer Science, or Business Administration •A minimum of five years of progressive management responsibility/experience in information systems, with enterprise resource planning system experience required. •Experience in the administration of technical services contracts and prior administrative systems (Datatel preferred) experience is highly desirable. •Excellent verbal and written communication skills. •Ability to meet deadlines, and take initiative in the development and completion of multiple concurrent projects. •An understanding of and commitment to the College’s mission.
