Posted By: Shineaca Moore on August 21, 2009 Salary Grade UNIT V - GRADE D Salary Range $54,626 to $100,053 Department Special Education Location Green Street FTE 1.0 Date Issued 20-Aug-2009 Closing Date 14-Sep-2009 HR Staff/Support Staff MARC WIRIG Job Description The Manager of Speech/Language Services supervises subordinate staff such as Speech Language Resources Staff, Speech Language Pathologists and Speech Language Pathology Assistants. The work includes responsibility for planning and evaluation; budget development, execution and monitoring; policy implementation and oversight; caseload/assignments; and program quality management. Job Duties and Responsibilities These examples are illustrative and not all-inclusive: 1. Plans, develops, implements and evaluates therapy services for the school system in accordance with established standards of licensure, accreditation, certification, and related laws, polices and regulations 2. Oversees daily operations of professional therapists and support staff assigned to the therapy programs 3. Evaluates the effectiveness of existing therapy services programs in order to assure quality by implementing changes in delivery of service or alternative programs 4. Develops staffing patterns and standards 5. Conducts and participates in formal training programs for subordinate staff 6. Prepares, presents and executes the program budget 7. Collects data and prepares reports/maintains records 8. Oversees special education regulation compliance 9. Provides on-going analysis of current research-based strategies and integrates regular staff development opportunities for subordinate staff 10. May provide direct therapeutic services to students as deemed appropriate 11. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications 1. At the time of application, a candidate must: Be eligible for licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist from the Maryland State Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers and Speech Language Pathologists. 2. At the time of application, a candidate must: Possess current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) awarded by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). 3. Knowledge of current trends and research in the field. 4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively. 5. Ability to supervise the work of others. 6. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with diverse populations. 7. Ability to create a positive environment that values, respects and leverages all employee talents while providing fair advancement for all employees. 8. Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, community agencies and the public. 9. Possession of a motor vehicle operator’s license and have a car at his or her disposal. 10.
