friends and getting around

Posted By: darishia howell on August 24, 2009 i am a first time freshman at clark atlanta university. i've been getting a little homesick and its causing me to be a little depressed already. i don't have any friends yet because i'm kind of shy in a new city. i would love to go around atlanta but i don't know anyone or know my way around. Hey, don't start that homesick thing. Besides, you ain't the only one there who is feeling like you feel. Believe me, it would be unique to have a freshman at Clark be the only one who was a little homesick. When you think of the great things you are going to accomplish and the love and support of your family and friends back home and how proud they are going to be of you when you graduate, you can't help but feel a little homesick. If you didn't people might begin to wonder what kind of home you came from. ha ha ha.. But on the real, keep your head up. Go to the student center, you will find other folks hanging out there. Just talk to somebody standing in line at breakfast. That's usually when people are most open because they're tails are still sleepy from partying....uh, I mean studying all night. They are looking for something to help wake them up and get them going. Besides, that's a good skill, you will encounter many mornings of people trying to get started from here on with school and work. I bet you aren't the only shy one there. I went to MVSU and believe me, being a jock, I was kinda out there for a freshman but it don't take long to make friends when you are among friends who just don't know you yet. AND THAT, MY FRIEND, IS WHAT AND WHERE YOU ARE WHEN YOU ARE AT AN HBCU; YOU ARE AT HOME BUT YOU JUST HAVEN'T FIGURED IT OUT YET!!! V.
