Prosecuting and Persecuting Black Men: An American Phenomenon

Posted By: Christopher Donshale Sims on August 25, 2009 Michael Vick is facing it. Plaxico Burress is facing it. Michael Tyson faced it, and countless other Black men have too. When will Black men in the American spotlight ever be treated like human beings? When will Black men ever be treated justly, fairly, or equally in America? Take these prime examples listed above, and the answer is NEVER. Especially if these men continue to be hounded, disrespect, and treated like murderers and career criminals. I pay attention to these cases with attentiveness. I am watching these men of my same hue closely, seeing what else these commentators and talking heads come up with. Michael Vick was just seen drinking a cocktail at a bar in Philadelphia. It has made national news. Michael Vick is a Grown Man. He can’t have a drink?? It is not in his contract that he cannot have a drink! My twin brothers says funnily, but seriously, “What is he going to do, have a drink then go fight dogs!” I laugh hard, but it not funny. This matter is so unfair to men who make mistakes, then for the rest of their lives, have to pay for it. Cameras follow them and they are scrutinized for small things that do not matter. One the other hand, White men and commentators praise, and say they’re in love with Brett Favre. What is this?? Brett Favre is a human being. He possesses no super human qualities. He is man who can make mistakes too. What will America benefit from as they prosecute and persecute Black men? Is there a prize for this? Does it make certain White men feel good that they get to belittle Black men? We are always on trial wherever we are. We are always looked at through a microscope. When will we have peace like the next man? Mayor Bloomberg said that Plaxico Burress should be “prosecuted to the fullest extent.” And, for what? He shot his own self in the leg. No one in the club that night heard the gun shot. Everyone else was safe. They arrested him at his home as if he had shot the club up. The criminalization of Black men needs to stop. Our image will continue to be tainted, and we will be continued to be looked at as savages, or gun toting hoodlums who are out of control. We are not that. Some of us make mistakes. Some of us have bad breaks. Some of us take the wrong turn down the road of life, but who does not eventually? We are human too. Our flaws does not give people the right to destroy our character and make us pay for the rest of our lives, doing the song and dance on TV to be reinstated into some White men’s social clubs and in front of their cameras. Let’s back up. Realize that America has always been harsh to Black men. Maybe this will help those of White America who feel they own our lives and should make us pay, as if we owe the world something. Hello Mr. Sims, You want to know, when will Black men in the American ever be treated like human beings? When will Black men ever be treated justly, fairly, or equally in America? The shortest answer to your question is, when American Blacks, who are descendents of slaves, become a sovereign people or have complete independence from White America on a portion of this continent that we could call our very own country with borders. Our complete independence is not too far down the road from today. Obviously, if we were a sovereign people, or have complete independence from White America it would not be necessary for you to ask your question, when will Black men ever be treated justly, fairly, or equally in America. I am the way, and besides me, there is no other way for American Blacks ever to be real people in this world. Sovereignty is our only permanent solution and nothing else is workable. What say you? To this question I ask are these men 'innocent' but judged unjustly for these crimes because of the color of their skin? "I" personally believe that any Black man who believes that when the White man says, "you are one of us" that they deserves every thing that "being one of us " gets them. And, I say this because if any Black man believes that even with fame and forturn causes the White man to see them as the "EXCEPTION" of those other African-American because they are : violent, stupid school drop outs, born of single mothers therefore social misfits and on drugs to name just a few, and they are going to get EQUAL JUSTICE as their now adobted race gets; then they deserve to do time for JUST being stuck on stupid!!!!!!!!! If "I" seem angry it is only because "i", because as I am Black. I to get treated as if I had something to do with all of this because "I" am a member of the Black race...I doubt if any responsible Black persondoes not believes that the whole race goes into those statistics about our being violent and criminals...why do we just go right out there and act like we are not going to be seen in a different light expecially when we do something wrong?!? example, 1. When is the last time you have seen Blacks graduating from high school or college on main stream tv as compared to one of us commiting a crime at school? 2. So you believe that those same White people who accepted these Black people that you mention did not make more money off of them than these people got paid them selves , and yet this country is all up in arms(and I do meant armed to the tee right out in public) because we now have a Black president!!!!! Or, have you ever seen anyone near a White president with a loaded gun and not go straight to prison. Here is a good hint and a fact. The last person caught near a president of this country just got out on parole after serving 40 years....Oh, by the way did you see how the KKK had the brother out there with an assault rigle? I wonder why they were not the ones to get to test if someone with agun and one with an assault weapon would be seen as a no, no?LOL Again I say STUCK ON STUPID!!!!!!! I can say that I have been on this earth a long, long time and Vic is the first person that is Black that I have ever known to be arrested for dog fighting.But, I do give the White man credit for when they want to commit a crime they make sure that it is not traced back to them. They do not carry illegal guns or legal guns on them, they hire someone else to do it...again I say they should serve time for being stuck on stupid!!!!!!!!Christopher....(smile) And, I am so glad that you sound like you are not planning on going to prison...just please start demanding that these men take more responsibality for representing ourW-H-O-L-E race.O.K.
