Black College Life...whats that?

Black College Life...whats that?
Posted By: Ashanti Johnson on July 26, 2005

Last year I attended a predominately white school, ISU. It was only 13% minority and the parties were as bunk as they come. I felt that I was deprived of the cultural experience that I should have had upon entering college. For this reason I have decided to attend TSU. I am a part of the Student Exchange Program so I will only be able to go to TSU for one school year and while attending TSU I will be paying my ISU tuition (that’s a blessing cause I can’t afford no out-of-state tuition). SO my question to all yall out there, is do u think that I will get the black college life experience that I am hoping for in such a short period of time?

I understand what your saying thats the reason why i chose to go to Tuskegee University. I mean there is a highly popular school here where i am that everyone is attending but the thing was the school was heavily populated with whites and i was thinking about the exchange program while i was there but i thought maybe i should try the whole black college experience before narrowing it down to just this school. I mean dont get me wrong white schools are good but i haven't been around my people in a long time and i felt it was time for me to get that back. I cant afford no out of state tuition either but i have goals that i have set for myself and going to Tuskegee is one of them no matter how far it is and so i went for it. I mean you should be able to get the same experience from it i mean like Darryl said you might get hooked. But all in all take in what you can and enjoy it.
Im out

Good luck Ashanti! I lived in Nashville for several years, graduated from school there, and I can tell you from my MANY accounts with TSU you'll definetly love the atmosphere. There school spirit is VERY high they love there Tigers. Im telling you all this and I dont even like TSU. Im an AAMU Bulldog through and through, but you know the saying 'Real recognize Real' and I believe thats a good selection to get a black college experience! Im pullin for you girl! 1 luv

I think/believe You are a very wise Young Woman.
Great decision.
I have went to both type schools and I would never trade that valuable experience.
The whole world is multicultural and we have to live, survive and make it.
No one gets around it no matter what they say.
