MATTHEW GRIFFIN I FELT THE SAME WAY THAT YOU FEEL WHEN I LEFT TO GO TO BASIC TRAINING. Jimmie Lee Gibson Jr. Norfolk State University class of 2006 You're just going through what most freshman experience before they head off to school. Everyone gets all worked up and excited before they leave for school and a little nervous as the day draws near. I was exactly the same as you are right now. I couldn't wait to leave until the day was almost here and then all these worries crept into my head about leaving my friends and family. How would me and my roommate get along and how would I be received since I didn't know anyone in the area at all. But trust me, you won't have a problem once you step on campus....your parents leave....and you get that first taste of college life with your fellow students. The relationships that are worthwhile at home will thrive and those that don't belong with you will wilt. And you'll meet some of the best people you'll ever know in college.
