A Great Holiday Idea For Job Seekers

A Great Holiday Idea For Job Seekers
Posted By: Hugh Palmer on October 05, 2009

Nearly half of the nations top retailers are planning to hire 5% to 25% fewer workers during the Christmas season compared with last year, and 48% said they would hire the same amount, according to the survey released two weeks ago by the Hay Group, a consulting firm. They polled 25 of some of the biggest retailers in the US including America including target, American Eagle Outfitters, Best Buy, Sears and Target.

That's bad news for those looking for jobs, especially because 62% of retailers said they had received more seasonal applications this year than in 2008.

With long-term unemployment reaching record highs, many workers are taking jobs for survival, often part-time or outside their field. Many have college degrees but can't find jobs that replace the income and lifestyle they once enjoyed. If you are a college grad who is in between interviews and sending out resumes, a great idea to consider is perhaps starting your own business or being a part of a program which can help you generate some income as opposed to none at all.

On June 30th USA Today featured a great article “Direct Sales (like Avon and Mary Kay) Offer Recession Proof Jobs by Charisse Jones. This article goes into how direct sales companies are recession resistant. The reason why is that more people flock to this industry during economic hard times for supplemental income or replacement for a lost job.

Regardless of the company you choose to join, there are usually nominal start up costs varying between less than a hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars to get going. There are also affiliate type marketing companies where you get rewarded based on the people who purchase goods and services through your network. There are scores of these types of companies such as Value Click which are free to join and have been around for a while. A great idea I have seen recently is the long awaited Blastoff Networks out of Dallas Texas which is free to join and will be launching nationwide October 26th.

This is a website that will bring the best of the Internet together in one place which will be informative, practical, fun, a way to save and make money.

Since I had purchased a laptop and bought airline tickets recently it peaked my interest when Blastoff came across my desk as I would have jumped at a chance to get cash back on those purchases. I had to take a look at their program and what I saw excited me.
The part of this pre-launch that is receiving the most buzz is the plan to give cash back to online shoppers while paying a referral fee on the purchases made ten levels deep in your extended network to those who refer their friends and relatives to the free website.
With the Holidays around the corner it seems like most people are shopping online anyway these days. There is no question it can be easy and convenient to do so and you can generate income.
For example people are shopping on e Bay, Amazon, Walmart, Target, Best Buy and many more retailers without a lot of problems because of the convenience. Over 875 million people have purchased or regularly purchase items online according to Nielsen. Those numbers are up 40% over the last 2 years.
This Blastoff network is now in collaboration between 36 year old, publicly traded company, Prepaid Legal out of Ada OK. and Blastoff Networks out of Dallas TX. Prepaid Legal is known for their direct marketing approach while Blast off network use viral marketing.
In the Beta testing two out of four who were presented the idea of cash back while shopping online responded favorable, not to mention the potential income to refer new online shoppers to the free site.
Blastoff is in a pre-launch period right now and will officially launch in October 26th. Though its free to join, the public will only through private invitations starting October 12th, be able to get in early to build their network before the massive media campaign which is expected after October 26th. That's when everyone else can set up their Blastoff accounts. Experts are saying that when this goes viral it can grow as large as Facebook with millions of users. You can contact me at http://www.blastofftogo.net for more information or an invitation. Joining now will allow you to take advantage of the potential income.
