Southern University at New Orleans earns first volleyball win with shutout

Posted By: Eddie Francis on October 19, 2009 The Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) Lady Knights (1-11, 0-7) earned their first volleyball win in the university's history with a 3-0 shutout of Judson College in a non-conference match in The Castle on Saturday, October 17th. SUNO won their sets 25-17, 25-17 and 25-22. Freshman outside hitter Ziporrah Washington led in kills and attacks with 18 and 36, respectively. Sophomore libero Blake DeLarge led the Lady Knights with 21 digs while sophomore setter Lanika "Niki" Collins led with 17 assists. SUNO Volleyball is in its inaugural season, and the team is coached by Wendy Magee. The Lady Knights are members of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, which includes Xavier University of Louisiana and Dillard University, and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
