SUNO's Prince and Green make basketball pre-season All-GCAC teams

Posted By: Eddie Francis on October 28, 2009 FEATURED Content Southern University at New Orleans’ Jazzlyn Prince and Lionel Green are pre-season selections for the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) pre-season All-Conference women’s and men’s basketball teams, respectively. Prince, a 5’6” senior guard out of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, has been a defensive difference maker for the Lady Knights. The 2008-2009 All-GCAC selection led SUNO in steals with 70 last season. Prince also led SUNO with 4.33 assists per game, and she was among the Lady Knights’ points leaders with 11 per game. She also had five double-doubles during the 2008-2009 campaign. Green, a 6’5” senior guard from New Orleans, was an impact scorer for the Knights in the 2008-2009 season. He led SUNO in scoring with 17.21 points per game, and shot 42% from the 3-point line. Green was second on the team in rebounds and assists with an average of 6.05 per game and 3.47 per game, respectively. He also had 33 steals on the season as well as two double-doubles. SUNO will open the basketball season on the road on Saturday, October 31st in Nashville, Tennessee against Fisk University in a doubleheader. The Knights play their first home game against Texas College on November 13th, and the Lady Knights play their first home game against Judson College on November 19th.
