Posted By: Jehan Bunch on February 18, 2010

The McGraw-Hill Companies was recently names a “Top 50 Employer” by Equal Opportunity Magazine. Published since 1968, the magazine is a career-guidance and recruitment publication distributed to more than 1,400 university placement offices ,leading engineering and MBA schools, African-American, Hispanic, Native-American and Asian-American college students and professionals in a wide range of fields. Readers were polled and asked to name the principal companies or government agencies where they would most like to work or believe would provide a positive working environment for members of minority groups.

We’re very proud to be included on Equal Opportunity Magazine’s Top 50 list for the first time,” said Terri Austin, vice president, Diversity & Inclusion. “This recognition demonstrates the McGraw-Hill Companies’ commitment to creating an outstanding work environment that encourages innovation ad excellence.

Diversity is a core value of the McGraw-Hill Companies. As global competition increases, our dedication to creating and maintaining a diverse, inclusive work environment strategically positions us for future success.”

Brian Jensen, vice president, Talent Acquisition, added, the significance of this recognition is that it is based on marked perception rather than benchmarking or analysis, another strong example that The McGraw- Hill Companies has retaining the best talent and creating an engaged workforce.”

Supporting the Corporation’s diversity initiatives are a number diversity business councils and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), like BEAM (Black Employees at McGraw-Hill), APEX (Asian Professionals for Excellence) and HHN (Hispanic Heritage Network). The McGraw-Hill Companies also sponsors a Mentoring program that reinforces company’s emphasis on employee development, inclusion and a supportive culture.
