Do Christians Really know how to LOVE the way Christ intructs us to love?

Posted By: Shantell Sterrett on February 20, 2010 Since before "valentine's day" and other man made regional holidays like "sweetest day" here in OHIO, I have been pondering this whole concept of love. I even talked about it last week for a second service but I was still left with plenty of unanswered questions. Some Christians say that we should demonstrate tough love, so I asked where that was in the Bible and I was hit with, "GOD love is tough love when he lets us endure the consequences of our sin" but then my rebuttal is, then we should be dead! Not entering into HIS promises like the children of Israel was an example of disobedience to GOD not necessarily punishment or tough love, but I could be looking at this all wrong. I guess when we shun our brothers and sisters because we don't agree with their choices is all I was really getting at, but some people always want to further complicate the issue. Love is patient, kind, it's not proud or puffed up, it doesn't envy or rejoice in sin, but is happy about the truth, love bears all things, endures all things love never fails. The songwriter sang, love lifted me, when nothing else could help, love lifted me. I am one of those people I guess GOD has to love the HELL out of, and that's ok, becuase he said that LOVE, only his unfailing, unselfish, unconditional love covers a multitude of sin.
