MEAC Basketball Tournament set
Posted By: Jehan Bunch on March 10, 2010 NORFOLK, Va. - The official seedings and matchups were announced Friday morning, March 5, for the 2010 MEAC Basketball Tournament, which runs next Tuesday through Saturday at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C. The NSU men (11-18, 9-7 MEAC) have earned the No. 4 seed and an accompanying first-round bye in the tournament. The Spartan will open play on Thursday, March 11 at 8 p.m. against No. 5 seed Hampton (13-17, 8-8). NSU swept the season series from the Pirates, but Hampton is 3-0 all-time against the Spartans in the MEAC Tournament. The Spartan women (4-22, 0-16) are the No. 11 seed and open play in the first round against No. 6 seed Bethune-Cookman (15-14, 9-7) on Tuesday, March 9 at 4 p.m. The Lady Wildcats won the only regular-season meeting between the teams, 79-61, on Jan. 9 in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Spartan women are 2-0 all-time against B-CU in MEAC Tournament play.
