2010 HBCU NFL Draft Preview
|
Posted By: Russell Clark on April 21, 2010 Where’s The Beef? – The Case of the Missing Prospects by Alvin Hollins, Jr. As one scours the plethora of NFL Draft preview magazines and websites, one thing is perfectly clear: HBCU players aren’t getting much love from the pundits as the 2010 Draft draws near. The 2010 NFL Draft is shaping up as another dry stretch for the nation’s Black Colleges and Universities. Only two HBCU players: defensive end/linebacker Junior Galette of Stillman (Ala.) College and Norfolk (Va.) State wide out Chris Bell were invited to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, although most HBCUs held Pro Days this spring to give scouts a chance to put hopefuls through individual workouts. In fact, one new arrival in the evaluation process which might help future HBCU pro aspirants is the Russell Athletic Senior Bowl Game, which debuted last December, featuring selected all-star teams made up of the top seniors from the MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC and independents. www.hbcusportsonline.com/media/2010/04/hbcusportsonline-2010-nfl-draft-preview If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
