AHSHE…AND SO IT IS

Malcolm X coined the phrase “By Any Means Necessary,” which is the motto of Producer Toni Odom who will launch the Black Soap Opera Webisode Ahshe, on his birthday, May 19th.

“I wrote Ahshe, to speak to the black community that rarely is portrayed in mainstream media,” Odom said. “All the people that are a part of HBCUconnect.com will see themselves in the webisode and identify with the lives of the characters,” she said.

Ahshe is produced by Restore Films and consists of 24 webisodes that will be posted weekly. Ahshe which is the Yoruba word for “and so it is” is the name of the bookstore in the show that is a community hotspot. The lives of the Grant family (two brothers and two sisters) serve as the main story while the lives of their friends and lovers help to round out the drama.

“The power of the members of this site can help to transform the images we see.

One click of the mouse on a weekly basis can give Ahshe the support it needs to be viable in the New Media Market, “ Odom said. The show has partnered with HBCUconnect.com to reach the growing demand of web content for the Black community.

“I chose to launch on the birthday of my idol Malcolm X to pay homage to his ultimate sacrifice. His life and strength made the way for me. Support from the members of this site will ensure the success of the show that will give me the opportunity to continue to provide the type of programming that is relevant to US.”

Find out more by going to the show’s website, http://www.ahshe.com and check out the trailer. In addition to the weekly webisodes, the site features trivia questions, downloads and a forum so fans can interact. Don’t forget to go to the site and register and watch the first show, going live at 7pm PST.
