The Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith are set to host the 2010 NCAA Div. II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Day 1 of the event consists of a few finals in the field events and several prelims. CIAA and SIAC schools will be represented well with athletes competing from 13 of their institutions. 2009 NCAA champions, Saint Augustine’s (Men) and Lincoln (Women) will face stiff competiton as they look to repeat. In the latest Div. II poll St. Augustine’s sat at no. 1 but only by a few points. Lincoln was ranked2nd in the women’s poll.

George Williams, head coach of Saint Augustine’s College was recently selected Division II Atlantic Region men’s outdoor track and field head coach of the year by the USTFCCA. Coach Williams and the Saint Augustine’s Falcons have won 30 NCAA Division II titles over the course of his 34-year career. The Falcons have 19 entries in the men’s division which is the most of any men’s team competing this weekend. St.



Augstine’s will be led by senior, Richard Boone, 10.33 100m and junior, Josh Scott, 20.68 200m and 45.99 400m.

Other student-athletes to watch for in the Men’s Championship are Leford Green, JCS, 45.88 400m; Jason Boyd, SAC, 13.93 110m H; Aaron Johnson, BSU, 2.15m HJ and William Bailey, BSU, 7.59m LJ.

The Blue Tigers of Lincoln (MO) look to complete their double-double. The women’s track team comes to Charlotte having won the 2009 & 2010 NCAA Indoor Championship and will have to find some additional points if they want to repeat as Outdoor Champions in 2010. Lincoln (MO) has won 6 out of the last 7 outdoor titles. The Blue Tigers hold the nation’s best times in five different events; 100m, 200m, 400m, 4×100m and 4×400m. They are led by Semoy Hackett, So, 11.3 100m, 23.07 200m and Nyoka Cole, Jr, 54.45 400m.

Other student-athletes to watch for in the Women’s Championship are Barbara Pierre, SAC, 11.39 100m; Keyona Smalls, Claf., 54.54 400m; Anna Kay Campbell, LU, 6.37 LJ and Antoinette Oglesby, ASU, 12.63m.
