Wednesday, June 16, 2010 - The Black Scholars Index celebrated Dr. Charlotte Hawkins Brown, educator and founder of The Palmer Memorial Institute - http://www.blackscholarsindex.com/2010/06/... Thursday, June 17, 2010 - The Black Scholars Index celebrated Nannie Helen Burroughs, an African American educator, orator, religious leader, and businesswoman. She gained national recognition for her 1900 speech "How the Sisters Are Hindered from Helping" and her booklet entitled "The 12 Things The Negro Must Do For Himself." http://www.blackscholarsindex.com/2010/06/... Friday, June 18, 2010 - The Black Scholars Index featured Mary Ann Shadd Cary. She was an educator, activist, and a woman of many firsts: 1st African-American female editor in North American, 1st African-American female to enroll at Howard University Law School, and the 1st African-American woman to cast a vote in a national election. http://www.blackscholarsindex.com/2010/06/...
