Affirmative Action
|
Posted By: Hodari Brown on August 15, 2005 Recently the Michigan Republican put out an ad that supports the idea of getting rid of Affirmative Action at the University of Michigan by any means necessary: So here is what I asked and told the Michigan Republican Party Chairman: So does this mean that the Republican Party as a whole doesn't support Affirmative Action because without it I beg to differ that many of the prominent blacks in America would be where they are without quotos being set for them to attend institutions of higher learning that refused for years to accept minority students particularly African Americans. Secondly Affirmative Action doesn't just apply to a particular race class for example, at Tennessee State University, an HBCU and predominately black school, the minority is causcians and causcians recieve the minority scholarship for just having a 2.0 G.P.A. once they graduate from high school while at the University of Michigan, a minority student recieves the minority scholarship or any other scholarship if they have at least a 3.0 or higher when they graduate from high school. So how is that fair for any one. I don't hear the Republican Party talking about that in Tennessee because the majority of the Tennessee Board of Regents are Republicans including the chairman and they don't care cause they want all state schools to be predominately causcian anyway. Is that fair for the generations of African American families that have attended Tennessee State University, no it's not. So please stop acting like BAMN is the problem when in reality MCRI is just trying to undermind a long standing program that has helped the minorities in the America more than the majority. So like the majority used to tell the minority after slavery and during the civil rights movement, just come up by your bootstraps and get over it because Affrimative Action is here now and forever and if that changes that really signals that the Republican Party doesn't want African Americans back home but just wants our votes for elections.
