Doctoral JOurney - Ed.D in neducational leadership

Posted By: Albert Brown on July 23, 2010 I am in the process of completing my doctoral degree in educational leadership, by writing my dissertation. I have just received my dissertation back from the editor (which cost me $10.00/page). I am now working on the comments of the editor. I am looking for either a job as an assistant professor of education or a position in a corporation in technical training. I am looking for something that will combine my experiences and education in computers and education. I believe in lifelong learning, after my doctoral jounry I plan to enter another educational program. I would like to know if you have any publications in some of the top journals in your respective field?Also, what is the premise of your dissertation?In your opinion, do you think if a person one has a BA degree in sociology or social work should be allowed to be in charge of the US Department of Education?Case in point, the current Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan has this qualification. Do you think the current educational programs from the K-12 are still based upon the intellectual development of White children? As a result, we wonder why our Black children are not meeting his/her full intellectual potential. I look forward in hearing your response.

Michael, The head of the Department of Education is a politicl position and as such need not have any particular educational qualification. Arne Duncan was a Superintendent in Chicago so I thought he did have at least a master's degree if not a doctorate. There is an achievement gap between black and white students as a direct result of school integration. With integration came the demise of black teachers in K-12, especially black men. After school integration, white women took over the administration of urban schools and by and large hired middle class white women as teachers for black children. Middle class white women tend to be afraid of black boys and therefore they simply pass them through to the next grade if the black boys behave in their classes. In most cases they make no attempt to educate black boys at all. When schools were segregated all blacks received a better education because they were taught by black women and quite a few black men. I went to grammar school taught by black teachers and attended only by black students. I went to this school in Phoenix Arizona.
