Posted By: Junita Byrd on August 16, 2005 look ya'll....so, i'm bout ta start school next monday. just got a perm yesterday....feel'n good feel'n great feel'n great feel'n good, iron'n out my hair.... then right in tha middle of me tryna look cute i get a phone call from....none other than my school (ivy tech state college-indianapolis). just so happens that the financial aid office is on tha other end of tha conversation. ms. wilson (office advisor) is like we need a copy of ur parents tax return. i been did that so i told her that i turn'd it in and she like u sent us ur aunt's tax return and we need ur mother's....i'm like say what- cuz my mama and daddy gave up they parental rights over 16 years ago, i don't know where they are, and my aunt is my guardian...basically tha only mama i ever knew. she like, well in this case i'm sorry ...ur not eligible for financial aid at this school. i hang up and i'm ball'n, piss'd, and mad as hell so, i call my mama (my aunt) and tell her what just went down...she bout flip'd her lid ya'll, but she call'd tha school back and told ms. wilson my situation-how i'd been thru hell and back cuz my daddy did somethings that ain't supposed to be done to a child, but that a story for another blog- and that my parents had given up they rights so long ago and she tha one who pick'd up tha responsibility. my auntie got all tha proof in tha world (SIGN'D DOCUMENTATION)...so now we gotta go up there today...hmmmm, my school is real bogus ya'll, i just hope cau don't try to pull tha same shyt cuz i got too much love fa that school and what it stands for..... tell me what ya'll think...... girl that is crazy!!! Well hopefully things work out for you, and I don't think CAU will pull some bs like that... I jus don't understand why ya old school did'nt call you months ago to tell you adn why they waited till you bout to go back to school....

Well, my past experience with financial aid at cau has been a trying one. Either they need you to get your things in order to send them, or you have sent off everything and they are the ones slow moving their feet. In the end though, it all works out for the best. Just pray and claim it and you will get through it all. See you in the fall! Peace
