3 hours and counting!! This is ridiculous!!!

3 hours and counting!! This is ridiculous!!!
Posted By: Tiffany Smith on August 16, 2005

This process has tested my patience to the fullest. I don't know what to do! So much is going on in my life right now and this adds nothing to it! I knew that black schools were infamously known for their financial aid offices, but I had no idea it would be like this!

After FOREVER, I finally got approved for a loan (I didn't want a cosigner). The school never certified it. So I called financial aid and they told me that I had to do a FAFSA. Now, I never did a FAFSA because my dad wasn't giving me his tax information. I asked my mom (who I don't live with) if she could use hers. She agreed and my FAFSA got processed! So I was all happy about that tip.

But now, I need to call the school and tell them to certify my loan so that I can get financially enrolled so that I can move in on Saturday! I don't get a key if I'm not financially enrolled.

This is getting out of hand! Where am I supposed to go on Saturday?!

Now I'm on the phone with financial aid and have been for the past 3 hours. No one has dared to pick up the phone. I'm getting frustrated and hungry so I think I'm going to hang up.

Not only is financial aid killing me, but I'm having family issues. People passing away, Dad not supporting me or my decision to go to Clark, and boyfriend issues.

You guys, I'm extremely worn out. I don't know what to do. I can't even surround myself around people right now. I'm either with family or by myself. I don't even pick up my phone. It's not even on!

My stress is causing me to either snap on people (boyfriend) or just don't talk because I don't feel like it.

I don't know why all of this is happening at once, but I hope to gain a lot after it's over. I just had to write it down to tell somebody since I'm obviously not talking to Financial Aid...

Hey Sis, respectfully all colleges are known for those long lines and I have not met anyone yet that did not have problems with financial aide. All things happen for a reason, so maybe it is you that will be Blessed with the credit of reforming financial aide problems that are as old as colleges have been around.
This is highlighted by any movie or t.v. show that has a college in it.
Remember "A Different World"? DrumLine?

Honestly I suck with patience and have to work on it myself, I am trying much harder now, but I still honestly struggle with it just being real.
Perhaps you will be more mature than I am in this area and use this scripture better than I do:
James 1:3-5
:-)

p.s. My whole life was built on if I can make it into college all will be better.
I was called a fool for getting out of the Army to go to college after being forced into the Army.
I was last stationed in Elpaso, TX.
The Army had my records mixed up and had me as a dishonorable discharge instead of an honorable discharge.
I had to find and set up a meeting with our Congressman who had to go to the Pentagon to clear my records.
I had to drop out of UTEP(University of Texas Elpaso).
I was on the football team, had met a beutiful girl on the basketball team that wanted a relationship with me after basketball season was over. Her name was Veronica and she looked just like Serena the deceased famous Latin singer.
I had to come to what I knew as home with my head down to people saying I told you so. My ex-Army sergeant drove me from Elpaso to Florida. After playing 2 yrs of Semi-Pro ball in Germany(Hanua Hawks), my dream was to play major college football as a wide receiver. I was so thrilled when UTEP coaches called to invite me to join their football team. I was 24 at the time.

After working at a boat factory(I hated it), I enrolled at MCC(Manatee Community College), I received no financial aide until January.

I went to FAMU on a wing and a prayer and it was around Dec when I finally got my financial aide and net check, guess how I was eating?

I was in a Masters class and started in Oct, I left work with the state as a counselor fulltime. my goal was to get my masters in Counseling within one yr. I had a girlfriend at the time in the Airforce as a Lt. and I was planning on family. I had maxed out at how much money I could make with a bachelors degree.
Well I used up my savings, cashed in my 401K plan etc.
Guess what happened to the girl I supported throughout her Senior yr of college?
I did not receive my financial aide until that April. I had nearly lost everything. God Blessed me to keep my house and my Eclipse was payed for.
All long story but you get the gist of the story.
"God" Bless.
