Do HBCUs give African Americans a distorted perception of the world?

Posted By: Jasmine Gill on August 25, 2010 Some critcs argue that HBCUs provide an unrealistic way of life and perception of the world. I have sat through several forums where people of all races and ehtnc backgrounds criticize HBCUs for setting themselves apart. One comment was made that suggested a brainwashing effect HBCUs have on young Black America. I understand both sides of the argument but I want your opinions. Do you agree or disagree? Very true. Hate is definitely the strongest underlying current I've heard in this debate over the years. And I feel like even if they could somehow "prove" brainwashing, then the same would be true for Yale, Harvard, Vanderbilt, etc. because those are historically white.
