US Submits First Ever Human Rights Report to the UN

Posted By: Juan Davis on August 28, 2010 For the first time ever, the United States has submitted a report to the United Nations Human Rights Council chronicling America’s human rights record. In the twenty-nine-page report, the Obama administration admitted more needs to be done in many areas including racial justice, women’s rights, LGBT rights and discrimination against Muslims and Americans of South Asian and Arab descent. The American Civil Liberties Union praised the administration for submitting the report, but the ACLU said the report neglects to address other key areas where the US has failed to meet its human rights obligations, including felon disfranchisement, inhumane prison conditions, racial disparities in the death penalty system, and deaths and abuse in immigration detention. The report also failed to mention another little discussed international human rights issue - the testing and abuse of electromagnetic and directed energy weapons. Since the capabilities of these weapon systems are often classified and not talked about publicly, they are secretly being used upon citizens - usually for the purpose of controlling opposition to the establishment geo-political viewpoint. Thanks to the combined effort of individuals who have been targeted by this technology, and several international human rights organizations, letters of petition concerning this issue have been sent to the US Attorney General, the State Department, and members of Congress, who then forwarded them to the UN in advance of its international human rights convention in November.
