Career or Vocation?

Posted By: Rosa Fe Adimos on August 29, 2010 Being a "TEACHER" isn't that EASY especially the PTA PAID TEACHERS). I took such course coz' i thought it was the MOST REWARDING PROFESSION out there but as I AM EXPERIENCING RIGHT NOW?it's the MOST PATHETIC! far different from what i thought it was. If only i could bring back times, i wouldn't let myself be engaged into such. To be clear, the story goes like these; After four years of STRUGGLES there comes a GRADUATION - where almost all of you & the family,friends and relatives felt a SIGH OF RELIEF... i then took the LICENSURE EXAMINATION FOR TEACHERS and YES i made it! Of course, as a FRESH GRAD. LET PASSER, i was so eager to applied in school. And i did not failed for i was accepted as a PTA PAID TEACHER in a newly been approved public school. I just Remembered the feeling for my very FIRST DAY in school. I was so excited with all the books, lesson plan, visual aids and EVERYTHING as a TEACHER. and FOR THE FIRST TIME i was called " maam"..whew!!!! what a wonderful feeling hearing such word! Time passes by yet i couldn't felt the same as it was before. The joy in my heart faded and was replaced by anger. Well, i am not after with the money but what i am trying to say is that I DO ALSO EXISTS AS HUMAN which simply means that i do have needs. But even just the BASIC NEEDS can't be sustain . How could i ever SURVIVE??? of course i want to survive for even the smallest insects in this world striving to survive; so do i. There were several times that even just my FARE I DON'T HAVE. i just wondered..how can the students be taught well if their teachers' stomachs were empty?i don't think so...how can "quality education" be attain in such circumstances? such things made me inevitably DESPISED teaching as my career...though my brother had always reminded me that "we cannot appreciate the swetness of a thing unless we tasted the bitterness of it"..but TOO MUCH is PATENT!! Maybe the Department of Education isn't really FAIR. There were myriad of TEACHERS waiting for an ITEM. Some had served within ELEVEN (11) YEARS YET THEY STILL HAVE NO ITEM...Did every TEACHERS experienced such things?? Definitely NOT! co'z there were newly grad who'd EASILY GOT AN ITEM...such thing made me PUZZLED?maybe they were more brilliant compared to the old ones..NO NOT really..If so, what's the STRATEGY? WEll, IT'S JUST simple.....For as long as you have a RELATIVE connected to the Dep.Ed it would be very easy for you to have it. Such issue really construed the saying that goes " Blood is thicker than water". Since then, i began to HATE TEACHING as a Profession, it's a CURSED taking such COURSE!..being a TEACHER is a CATASTROPHE! aND IN MY PART, i am AFRAID that i might also have an ITEM after 20 years of waiting..fOR i STRIVED finishing such course and here in my mind that someday i'm gonna lift my family from POVERTY..BUT IF this is the system of our Department,it's IMPOSSIBLE for me to make it!
