Volunteer with LIFT-DC!
|
Posted By: Samuel D'Agostino on August 30, 2010 LIFT-DC's mission is to combat poverty and expand opportunity for all citizens in the US. Working one on one with low or no income clients, LIFT volunteers (called Student Advocates) help clients to find jobs, secure safe and stable housing, make ends meet through public benefits, and obtain quality referrals for services like childcare and healthcare. Simultaneously, the LIFT experience pushes volunteers to grapple with the District’s most challenging issues related to poverty, race, inequality, and policy. We are looking for students who are dedicated to finding solutions in our fight to combat these issues, as well as those who are excited to take on leadership in this fight. LIFT-DC is located within the Perry School Community Services Center in Sursum Corda, which serves as a hub of community support for the Northwest One neighborhood. Beyond D.C., LIFT serves four additional regions: Boston, Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia. Want more information on how you can help out?
