Posted By: Felice Bois on September 02, 2010 Say No To Child Life Without ParoleWednesday, December 30, 2009 at 10:03amFelice Bois: Author of Gen Eyes Wide and Social Community Activist. WHAT IS AT STAKE? ARE YOUR EYES WIDE OPEN? BY ASSOCIATION IMAGINE THIS: Your child who is 16 years old, leaves home with a friend who is 18 years old. The friend robs a bank, a bank manager is shot and killed by your child's friend, your child refused to participate in the activity, leaves the crime scene - both are caught, sent to jail, prosecuted as an ADULT (instead of juvenile sentencing) and convicted of 1st degree murder. Your child receives life without parole for association a "felony murder" - he will die in jail, he will never come home. This could be YOUR son or daughter. According to the children bill of rights, all children are legally children until the age of 18. Are they no longer children when they commit crimes? All crimes are crimes. Our children are being tried as adults - receiving adult sentences, when infact, they should receive juvenile sentences. My Positions: 1. African American males have the highest incarceration rate in the United States. 2. Over 2,000 children have been convicted with Life Without Parole (LWOP). They come home when they die. 3. Low income families in high crime and high poverty communities are easy targets for the police. ARE YOU LISTENING!!
