Posted By: Shana Smith on August 19, 2005 I got something that speaks louder than words My heart, my soul, the agony and pain I got something that speaks louder than words My cry within, my search for a passion My motivation, trials and tribulations, but most of all my dedication Everyone around me louder than when the hummingbird sings But I’m quiet, with testimonies screaming From inside No, I haven’t lived a lifetime in just a few years like the late Aaliyah; but I’ve been through so many things that have made me cry, but have made me stronger I got something that speaks louder than words My hope for a tomorrow, my loyalty, and though it’s childish My fears A baby’s life describes my silent wails The enduring stare from a child’s eyes, the mixed emotion you get when someone close dies My will to be the best, my will to fulfill my fulfillments, hopes, dreams and goals It maybe my ability to do my best to stand the tests coming my way It maybe how I try my best to not be like the rest I got something that speaks louder than words My bold personality and my own individuality I got something that speaks louder than words My silent cries for help, the way I take life as one day at a time The way I live life to fullest, planting my feet on nothing but solid ground I got something that speaks louder than words My wisdom, my itch to make a difference When you hear my silent tears, see questionable actions, feel that something is not at peace, taste a bitter twist Don’t try and make an attempt to throw fist Just look in the midst And my face will soon appear My actions, my pain, my life, constant rain Everything about me speaks louder than words If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
