SUNO runners shine at GCAC Championships

Posted By: Eddie Francis on November 08, 2010 Monicah Jepkemboi, Trudy-Ann Williams, and Norbert Miller all made impressive showings at the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at Percy Warner Park in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday, November 5th. Jepkemboi, a sophomore runner from Kenya, grabbed the GCAC Cross Country women's title at the 5,000 meter race with a time of 19:37. Jepkemboi placed 8th in the 2009 championship. Williams, a sophomore from Jamaica, placed second with a time of 21:05. Last season, she placed 15th in a field of 44 runners. The Lady Knights placed second, as a team. As a result of their finishes, both women qualify for the 31st Annual Women's Cross Country National Championships in Vancouver, Washington on November 20th. Miller, a senior All-American sprinter from Jamaica, placed fifth with a time of 31:54 in the 8,000 meter race. The men's team finished fourth in the GCAC standings.
