The Astoria Beneficial Club, Inc., held its 109th Anniversary and Awards Celebration on Sunday, November 21st at Fifth Street Baptist Church’s Grace Center.

In describing the Astoria legacy, President said, “Each member of Astoria from the ‘Original 22’ to now, has left a n indelible mark on the positive growth of our community and continue to be standard-bearers for its defense and support.”

The speaker for the event was Arnold R.



Henderson, V, Esquire who exhorted the community to ‘Do its Part’ in remedying the social and economic conditions that plague our community.

Those receiving recognition were:
Robert Morse and Beverly . R. Tyler - 25 Year Service Plaque
Miss Clovia Lawrence - Certificate of Appreciation and Special Recognition
Gilbane Construction - Corporate Award
Wendell T. Foster and Allen Roots, Jr. - Citizenship Awards
Charles Woodie, Jr. - Astorian of the Year
